Vivekananda Degree College was founded in 1982 and is affiliated with the University of Bangalore. Vivekananda Degree College was named "4th Best College in Bangalore" by the National English Weekly "India Today" in 2003. The Janatha Education Society leadership was founded in 2013 by the Premier Vivekananda Institute of Management.  Institute is with a vision to create leaders and managers for the future.

• The relationship between faculties and students is from a family environment with a high degree of discipline, well collection and stocked libraries are built in the institution.
• The institute offers UG, PG, and certificate courses. In all institutions, cultural and co-curricular activities are promoted.

The college has a gents hostel with a maximum accommodation of 110 students. There is a separate hostel for ladies in Rajaji Nagar, which houses some 53 students.
