Harcourt Butler Technological University is one of the leading state technical universities in Uttar Pradesh. It came into existence in 1921 by the state government to make it a leading university of research & development. HBTU was formerly known as Harcourt Butler Technological Institute. As of 2016, it was granted university status under HBTU Act, 2016, passed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the ancient engineering institutes in India and holds ISO Certification.
