The University is named after a freedom fighter known as Captain Awadhesh Pratap Singh and was established in 1969 under the recognition of U.G.C. in 1972; it has an association with universities like A.I.U. and ACAU. A.P.S. University mainly aims to offer students opportunities to advance student's knowledge through distance.

• B.S.W.: 3 year: Higher Secondary (10+2)
• B.P.Ed/B.Ed: 2 year: NCTE Norms
• MBA/M.Com/M.Sc: 2 years: U.G. with 50%
• M.Phil.: 1 year: P.G. with 55% in the concerned subject
• M.S.W.: 2 years: U.G. or P.G. with 50%
• M.B.A.: 2 years: U.G. with 50%
• M.C.A.: 3 years: U.G. with Maths in 10+2 or B.C.A. in Maths
