The establishment of the Directorate of Distance Education at Guru Jambheswar University dates back to 1997, initially introducing four programs: MBA, PGDCA, BBA, and CIC. Since its inception, remarkable advancements have been achieved regarding program variety, student enrollment, and the creation of high-quality Self-Learning Material (SLM).

The evolution involved adding new programs and replacing existing ones to enhance their job relevance, allowing students to pursue studies alongside their employment or self-employment commitments.

GJUDDE offers a comprehensive array of education, including 3 undergraduate, 6 postgraduate, and 5 Diploma/Certificate programs in the Open & Distance Learning Mode. The Directorate directly imparts learning through Personal Contact Programs (PCPs), during which teachers from parent departments and program coordinators engage in classes and address student queries.

A well-equipped Computer Lab with internet access caters to students' technological needs.

GJU Distance Education meticulously curates the study materials in collaboration with subject experts, ensuring alignment with evolving program curricula as per market demands. Dedicated teachers and program coordinators are assigned to each discipline to maintain close student engagement.

Despite the reasonable fees for each program, students can pay in bi-annual instalments, easing access to quality education for those with financial constraints. Moreover, distance education students benefit from the Government of Haryana's Post Matric Scholarship (PMS).
