It is anticipated that the NEET UG 2026 registration will begin in February 2026. Over the years, NEET has become India's most competitive medical entrance examination, and over 24 lakh students apply for it every year.
A new procedure for NEET registration in 2026 is likely to implemented by NTA. Candidates will have to submit a Live Photo Capture of themselves when they register for the NEET. They will need to take a picture of themselves in real-time through their webcam or the camera of their mobile. This step is introduced to avoid the identity issues.
NEET 2026 Application Process is entirely online. Candidates can visit the NEET official Website to register themselves, fill out the application form, upload the necessary documents and pay the application fee.
The anticipated application fee for NEET 2026 is INR 1700 for the General category, INR 1600 for OBC and EWS candidates and around INR 1000 for SC/ST and PWD candidates.
In order to be eligible to take NEET 2026, candidates must be at least 17 years old by 31 December 2026; there is no upper age restriction to appear for the exam.
NTA has issued an important advisory on updating documents. It reminds all prospective NEET UG applicants to ensure that all required documents is up to date and accurate, prior to registration.
Before registering online for the NEET 2026 Exam, make sure that you have all the necessary documents such as the Aadhaar Card, UDID Card, and Category Certificate in order and up-to-date.
Your name, DOB, gender, photo and biometric information as shown on your Aadhaar Card should accurately match your details filled in application form. If they do not match form, you will likely experience problems during the counselling process or it might lead to application rejection.
Students PwD Category must check that they have a valid and up-to-date UDID Card because failure to do so could result in rejection of the PwD benefits when it is time for Paralysed students to gain admission.
If you belong to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, or EWS categories, ensure that your Certificate has been issued by the appropriate authority and is still valid. If you possess an invalid or old Certificate, you will not be able to receive the benefit of a Reservation.
Candidates who are preparing for NEET in 2026, must be aware of all the important dates. The last date to apply for NEET UG 2026 is likely to schedule in March 2026, after this there will be an application correction period in March. The NTA NEET UG 2026 admit card will likely be available for download around April or May. Whereas, NEET UG 2026 exam will likely occur during May 2026. The authority will soon announce the official NEET Exam Date 2026.

The application process will be conducted completely online. Only candidates who satisfy the NEET UG 2026 eligibility criteria are eligible to apply. Check out the following steps in order to apply online:
Step 1: NEET 2026 Online Registration
Candidates must visit the NEET 2026 official website and select "New Candidate Register Here." Candidates must read all instructions thoroughly before entering basic applicant information such as Parents Name, DOB, Category, Mobile Number, Email ID and then create a password. Later, candidate will receive an assigned unique NEET 2026 application number.
Step 2: NEET 2026 Application Form Filling
Using your NEET 2026 application number and password (or ABC ID/Digilocker ID), you will log into your NEET account. Fill out your personal details, identity details, exam language preference, exam centre options, and Class 10 and Class 12 academic information. Most of the information provided during registration cannot be modified during correction window.
Step 3: Document Uploading for NEET 2026
Candidates must submit recent photographs, signatures, and other required documents in the appropriate formats. The following documents must be uploaded upon registration for NEET 2026. Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, a valid photo ID and Category Certificate (if applicable).
Step 4: NEET 2026 Application Fee Payment
Make the payment of application fees via online using credit card, debit card, UPI or any other mode. After successful payment, submit the form. It is mandated to save the confirmation page for further reference.

The most notable change in NEET 2026 is the return to the exam pattern that existed prior to COVID. As per the changes, the optional questions section has been removed.
Previously, the NEET exam consisted of two sections (Section A and B), Whereas, Section B was optional. In NEET 2026, Section B is completely removed. All questions in Section A will be required to be answered. As a result, optional questions will no longer be an option.
The total duration of time allocated to complete the NEET exam has also decreased significantly. Previously, candidates were allowed to have 3 hours and 20 minutes to complete their exams, whereas in NEET 2026 they will have only 3 hours (180 minutes) to complete the exam.
Each of the three subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) will now have one section consisting of a fixed questions .There will not be an option for students to skip questions.
