The National Testing Agency conducted the NEET UG 2026 exam for more than 22.79 lakh candidates. The exam was conducted in over 522 exam centres in India and 14 centres abroad. As the exam is now over, students are waiting for the official answer key, results and expected cut-off for MBBS colleges.
NEET UG is the country's largest medical entrance exam. It is conducted for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other medical courses. You can get admission to these courses offered in both top private medical colleges in India as well as the government. While the qualifying cut-off marks are not released yet, you can analyse the expected cut-off and rank on the basis of the previous years.
The admission cut-off for government medical colleges depends on various factors. It includes the difficulty level of the exam, the total number of students who appeared, the availability of seats, categories and students' performance. As the competition remains extremely high each year, even a minor mark can make an impact on the closing runs of top colleges.
NEET 2026 Qualifying Cutoff Marks
You should secure a minimum qualifying percentile to become eligible for counselling and admissions. The expected qualifying marks are based on past year trends. You can check in the table below the qualifying cut-off percentile.

The expected opening and closing rank for the top Government colleges are given in the table below. These colleges have extremely high competition due to limited seats.

Colleges |
Rank |

VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi |

|
AIIMS Bhopal |
184 - 531 |

Madras Medical College, Chennai |

A good score is considered to be above 650. If you’re targeting top government medical colleges like AIIMS, JIPMER, MAMC and VMMC then you must score more than 650. If you score between 600 and 650, then you also have a strong chance of getting into top government MBBS colleges.
Seat allocation also depends on your category and domicile quota. You also have chances of getting admission into private colleges if you score around 450.
There are several factors that influence the final NEET 2026 cut-off. These include a total number of candidates appearing for the exam, level of difficulty, number of seats available, reservation policy, and performance. If the exam is considered easier, the cut-off increases. This year, the Biology section was lengthy while Physics and Chemistry were moderate. This may affect the overall cut-off trends.
After the results are out, you can participate in MCC NEET UG counselling. There will be separate counselling conducted for state quota admissions. You must regularly keep on checking official updates related to results, announcements, counselling, schedules, and the admission process. This will help you to avoid missing any important deadlines.
