Eligibility Criteria for MBA Admission in Tamil Nadu

Academic Qualification: To get qualified, candidates must meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Before applying for the application form, candidates must be aware of the eligibility criteria because eligibility varies in certain colleges. The Basic requirement is that candidates shall have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum 50% aggregate score from any recognized institute. Simultaneously, candidates who belong to SC/ST Category will have a 5% relaxation in aggregate score according to government norms.

Domicile Rules: Candidates who wish to get admission for the MBA program through the TANCET entrance exam, such candidates should be domicile/resident of Tamil Nadu State. However, such candidates can claim reservation policies and eligible for scholarship and tuition fee waiver schemes. To be noted, domicile rules will not apply for the MBA colleges which accept National Level MBA entrance exam score.

Application Process for MBA Admission in Tamil Nadu

Applicants who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria are qualify to secure admission for the MBA program in Tamil Nadu. Foremost, domicile candidates of Tamil Nadu state who are looking to appear for the TANCET entrance exam need to register themselves through online mode by visiting the respective portal. Hence, the MBA admission process starts with the commencement of TANCET entrance examination registration. To fill up the application form, check out the following steps, which are mentioned below.

Step 1-Online Registration: At first, candidates must register online by visiting the official website; candidates must fill up all the relevant details to complete registration. Upon successful registration, a unique user ID & Password will be generated, and it will be sent for the candidates registered Mail ID, or it will be sent via SMS

Step 2- Fill up the TANCET application form: To fill up the application form, candidates need to login by using generated login credentials. After a successful login, candidates must fill up the application form by entering the required details like academic, personal, and contact details and need to choose the examination .center

Step 3-Upload the Documents: Candidates must upload the recent passport size photo along with their signature in a JPEG format and according to the prescribed dimensions.

Step 4-Application fees Payment: Candidates are required to pay the stipulated application fee charges according to their category. TANCET application fees charge INR 600 for the general category and INR 300 for the reserved category.

Step 5-Submit the Application form: Candidates are advised to verify all the details filled up in the application form and then proceed with the submission. Candidates must note down the application form, which will be generated after the application form's successful submission. Thereafter, take the printout of the application form for future reference.

Selection Process for MBA Admission in Tamil Nadu

Selection Through TANCET: After the announcement of the TANCET entrance exam result, Anna University will commence the counseling session. The admission authority will release the merit list/rank list of the eligible candidates based on the candidate's score acquired in the TANCET entrance exam. All the candidates whose name featured in the rank list/merit list must take part in a counseling session to acquire a seat for MBA admission in Participating Colleges.100% of seats will be through TANCET score in Government MBA Colleges whereas, in Private MBA Colleges,80% of seats will be filled through state level entrance exam score.

Selection through other MBA Entrance Exam: Candidates who have cleared national-level MBA entrance exam with valid score can apply individually for the institutes which accept national level entrance exam score. Such candidates' selection process will be based on the entrance exam's performance, group discussion, and personal interview. Similarly, deemed universities across the Tamil Nadu state follow the same selection procedure to impart an MBA Programme admission.

Direct Admission for MBA in Tamil Nadu: Candidates who have not secured a valid score in any national level or state level entrance exam can get direct admission for MBA under Management Quota in Private MBA Colleges. However, 20% of seats are reserved for MBA Management Quota admission in Tamil Nadu. Candidates from other than Tamil Nadu state can get direct admission for MBA through a valid national level MBA entrance exam score.

Counselling Process for MBA Admission in Tamil Nadu:

DTE, Tamil Nadu, will hold TANCET counseling. Candidates eligible with valid rank in the TANCET entrance exam can participate in the counseling session. The concerned authority releases 3 separate rank lists/merit lists. The Counselling session involves certain steps, namely online registration, payment of counseling processing fees, choice filling, and seat allotment.

Step 1-Registration for TANCET counseling: Foremost, candidates must register online by visiting the official Portal. Candidates have to enter the details pertaining valid mobile number & Email ID. Thereafter, the password will be sent for the candidate’s mail ID or mobile number.

Candidates must also enter other details like educational qualification, hall ticket number, and then click on submit option to complete the registration process.

Step 2- Payment of Counselling Fees: Candidates required to pay the counseling fee charges, which costs INR 300 for the unreserved category and INR 150 for the reserved category, and the payment can be made through demand draft

Step 3-Documents submission: Upon successful payment, candidates are required to send the duly-filled application form hard copy along with the attachment of mandatory educational documents for the examination authority through a post.

Step 4-Merit List Declaration: Concerned authority will release the merit list/rank list based on the candidate's score acquired in the TANCET entrance exam.

Step 4-Downloading the call letter: Candidates who have allotted the rank through the merit list can download the call letter by logging into the respective portal. Candidates are advised to carry the call letter while appearing for the TANCET counseling session. Call Letter concludes the details like candidate’s name, counseling center/city, and registration ID.

Step 6-Appearing for counseling: During the TANCET counseling session, candidates required to choose the MBA Colleges and branches according to their choice in the option entry form

Seat Allotment Process for MBA Admission in Tamil Nadu

After the candidate fills up the choices, the TANCET seat allotment process will begin. The admission authority will allot the seats based on the candidate’s rank acquired in the TANCET entrance exam and based on the choices filled up by the candidate and also based on the seat availability in a specific college. There will be 3 rounds of seat allotment sessions. If candidates are not satisfied with the seat allotment in 1st round, they can participate in the other two counseling rounds. To check the seat allotment order status, candidates need to login into the respective portal and download the allotment letter.

Later, candidates need to report to the allotted institute and confirm their admission seat by paying the stipulated tuition fee. Then submit the original educational documents and other relevant certificates to complete the document verification process.
