IGNOU Admissions for MBA entrance exam is OPENMAT 2021. The registration for the has begun from March 02, 2021, to get feasible admissions in the University by considering the OPENMAT management admission test scores for 2021-22. 

The admission cycle for the January session in IGNOU is still available. It is open till March 15, 2021, where both fresh and re-registrations are accepted at the official website: ignou.ac.in. Registration is possible only by entering the valid name and contact details of the applicants. While registering, it is advised to the students to know the complete details about the fee structure, eligibility criteria, and other necessary details. But the facility for fee relaxation is only available to reserved category candidates and is applicable for one program at a time. Graduates who are applying for OPENMAT must have a minimum percentage of 55, and if the candidates come under SC/ST, they must secure at least 45%. The OPENMAT applications will be open till March 20, 2021. 

Indira Gandhi National Open University's management courses as IGNOU to be popularized a wide range that offers PG Diploma in Management students with 5 individual specializations. One particular specialization called Banking and Finance came into launch due to MoU with IIBF as one such collaboration.

Registration for the IGNOU MBA OPENMAT Entrance exam will be organized on September 15, 2021, as declared by NTA for the July session. All the further updates regarding the OPENMAT examination will be clearly stated on the IGNOU exam website. The results and the rank list for the same management exam will be announced within six to seven weeks from the examination time. While knowing about the MBA programs is intended to be completed within 2 years, but the university's maximum duration is for 5 years, and the PGDM program will happen for 3 years. The IGNOU admissions for MBA programs are allowed twice a year in March and in September 2021. 

The eligibility qualification for the students applying for IGNOU MBA admissions then they have completed their bachelor's degree with having no defined age limit for the course from any of the well-recognized board or university only then they will be capable enough to appear for the entrance exam conducted by IGNOU for MBA admissions as OPENMAT.

While applying for the OPENMAT exam, the candidates will submit the application form in the asked prospectus as form 3. They should also attach/ upload the necessary copies of certificates or documents as specified by the IGNOU. The candidates must pay the application fees, and the payment can be made by DD that must be drawn for the University in New Delhi.

Students willing to apply for PGDM joining are accepted if they have merit-based in their last qualifying examination. Candidates will have to submit the forms in their nearest regional office, likely attaching the documents similarly to MBA applications. Lastly, if all the foreign candidates who are residents in India surpass the qualification, they can definitely apply for IGNOU programs.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy the following eligibility requirements to be considered for admission to IGNOU Management programs. The graduation percentage needed is 50% for gen candidates. There is a relaxation of 5%, i.e., 45% for other category candidates; get qualifying scores in OPENMAT organized by IGNOU with no limit of age bar.

Simple steps to fill in the online application for OPENMAT 

The OPENMAT application form is available only via online mode, and the candidates perform the task easily as mentioned below:

  • By visiting the University website at IGNOU website.
  • Register by creating Login Credentials.
  • Fill in the form by providing correct information.
  • Compulsorily attach the photo and signature of the candidates in scanned.
  • Carefully choose the convenient exam center which is feasible to travel to.  
  • Before applying, it is advised that the students carefully verify all the entered details as there is no further chance of editing the giving information. 
  • Pay the application fees, and the amount is for INR. 800/- (For SC/ST is INR 600/-)
  • Click on the submit button and complete the process.

Note: It is recommended to keep multiple copies of the form as it will be asked and used in various stages of processing the application form.  

Documents asked while applying for OPENMAT

  • Photographs and Signature copies in scanned format
  • Bank details to make the payment of application fee amount

Note: This process is only for fresh applicants, and if candidates are willing to apply for any re-admission, re-registration, or further continuation then, they will have to fill another form that is provided on the website along with paying the fee amount online itself. 

Students applying for MBA Online Application (Finance and Banking)

The application form for MBA in Finance and banking and the prospectus can easily be downloaded from the IGNO University's webpage.

The process is as simple as applying for any other course, Candidates will have to open the University website, attach their photograph in a given format, choose their particular course and specialization, choose their exam center, and other vital details have to be filled in the application form and lastly pay the required fees amount.  

Essential Documents Required for OPENMAT submission.

All the specific documents will have to be given at the regional center of the IGNOU. 

  • Certificate copies of their educational qualification as it is very much essential to evaluate the candidate's academic performance
  • Working Experience Certificate (if required)
  • Caste/ Category Certificate for reserved candidates (if asked)
  • Identity Cards like Adhaar card or PAN card or passport 
  • Program application fee, i.e., to be INR. 1800/-

The payment transaction of anything can be done through DD that can be payable at any city, and the bank challan can be scanned and attached if required for any verification process.   

Eligibility standards to know for Re-Registration or Re-Admission in IGNOU

Candidates re-applying must have compulsorily finished their chosen program in the given course duration. If they cannot complete it, they might have to re-register their names for the next academic year.  

The selection process of the candidates will happen only based on OPENMAT scores. As the test will be held twice a year, candidates can attempt the exam twice if they are not satisfied with the first attempt. The candidates can check their results by visiting the NTA website or by the OPENMAT exam page of the IGNOU. The result or the candidates' rank card will be sent to them on their mail id as provided at the registrations' time. 

Further, the admission process will be considered by knowing the cut-off score of OPENMAT as defined by IGNOU. It majorly accepts candidates who have made their mark on the merit-list, and those documents are verified and sent to the university's regional committee.   

In July, the scores of OPENMAT are valid for getting admissions for the first sem in Jan and second sem in July year of academics. In February, the scores of OPENMAT are valid for getting admissions in the first sem of July and second sem in Jan in the respective academic year.
