SSN College of Engineering is one of the popular technological institutes in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the best options for B-Tech aspirants in the state. SSN College of Engineering admissions are based on merit scores in the qualifying exam, followed by the entrance exam and counselling results. It is mandatory for the students to have participated in JEE Main Counselling, GATE/ TANCET scores, followed by Aptitude test and PI rounds. B-Tech:

• The flagship program in SSNCE is B-Tech. The course duration is for 4 years, i.e., 8 semesters.
• The students need to have fulfilled the educational requirements.
• B-Tech course in SSNCE is available in different specializations like Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.
• SSN College of Engineering B-Tech fees range from 1.2 lakhs to 2 lakhs for the entire program.
• For the academic year 2026, the total intake of students is 900, which is spread across different specializations. However, the CSE stream takes the highest number of seats.

M-Tech

• If students are looking for a PG Engineering course in Tamil Nadu, they can opt for SSN College of Engineering and join the M.Tech course.
• The course duration is for 2 years, i.e., 4 semesters.
• M-Tech specializations in SSNCE are Information Technology, Environmental Science and Technology, Communication Systems, CSE, Power Electronics and Drives, VLSI Design, Energy Engineering, Medical Electronics, and Manufacturing Engineering.

SSN College of Engineering admission process 2026

The admission process in SSNCE is not the same as the traditional system. B-Tech admissions are no longer through TNEA counselling because the college is in merger with Shiv Nadar University. From now onwards, the engineering course admissions will be carried out by SNU itself. The applications must be sent to the SSN School of Engineering at SNU Chennai.

In terms of eligibility criteria, the minimum educational requirement for b-Tech remains the same, i.e., pass in 10th and 12th board exams with min of 45 to 50% marks in major subjects like PCM.

SSN College of Engineering application process:

1. Qualified students must visit the official portal under SNU Chennai and then choose the desired UG or PG engineering program.
2. It is necessary for most of the applicants to be registered and appear for the university-level entrance exam- SNUCEE.
3. Eligible students will then be called for PI rounds conducted by the University.
4. After the PI performance, students will be called for the document verification step.
5. Lastly, they will get a confirmation letter from the University.
6. By accepting the offer letter, students must pay the course fees and join the program.

Note: Alternatively, Students can gain admission through JEE Main scores as well. Meeting the specified cut-off rank through JEE Main and participating in the counselling rounds shall be considered for admission in SSNCE.

SSN College of Engineering B-Tech admissions through SNUCEE 2026.

To seek admission in the SSNCE B-Tech program, the primary screening method is through participating in the University-level exam SNUCEE. This exam mainly evaluates the aptitude and problem-solving skills. The exam paper involves questions in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Logical Reasoning. Most of the exam syllabus is based on 12th board examinations.

Based on the exam results, the University authority will call the candidates for PI rounds and evaluate them for course admissions.  

SSN College of Engineering course eligibility and Selection criteria

SSNCE Course admissions depend on eligibility and selection criteria as specified by the college norms. B-Tech and M-Tech seats in SSNCE are based on merit scores in the educational qualification, followed by the entrance exam. B-Tech

• Students willing to get a seat in SSNCE must have completed their 10th and 12th board exams in the science stream with mandatory subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• They must have secured min of 50% marks in the core subjects in general. For reserved candidates, 5% relaxation will be given.
• In terms of selection criteria, students must have secured merit scores followed by JEE Main scores and their counselling results conducted by the exam authorities (NTA).
• Students can keep the previous year's cut-off rank as a reference range for 2026 admissions.

M-Tech

• Students willing to pursue a PG degree in the engineering stream can opt for the M-Tech course in SSNCE.
• Interested students must have completed their graduation degree in a relevant stream, i.e. B-Tech from a recognized University in the state.
• They must have passed the degree without any backlogs.
• Selection criteria will be based on graduation scores, followed by GATE or TANCET scores.
