Eligibility Criteria/Cut-off for Admissions 2020

Madras School of Social Work is affiliated to University of Madras and is an autonomous college established in the year 1952. The school is NAAC accredited and is also affiliated to International Association of Schools of Social Work. The main objective of the school is to impart education in the fields of Human Resource, Professional Social Work and Psychology also other social science related disciplines.

The courses offered at bachelor’s degree include BSW and B.Sc. in psychology, similarly at post-graduation level there is MSW, M.Sc. in Counselling Psychology and MA in Human Resource Management, Development Management, Human Resource and Organisation Management and Social Entrepreneurship also PG Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations as well Human Resource Management specialisations are available. Added to this there is even M.Phil. in Social work and Psychology disciplines as well Ph.D. in social work discipline presented.

  • Based on the +2 marks furnished by the candidate, the merit list or selected / waitlisted candidates will be published through provided email or in the official website on the scheduled date. Based on merit the college invites candidates for a counselling process and during this process seats will be allocated to students. Completing the entire procedure Madras School of Social Work admission to BSW or B.Sc. will be declared.
  • Candidates completed graduation of minimum 3 years from any discipline are eligible to apply for PG programs while on basis of score in entrance test conducted by the college followed by group discussion and personal interview basis MSW, M.Sc. and MA admission in Madras School of Social Work takes place.
  • Students completed post-graduation from relevant stream are eligible to take research level programs as well students with merit in the qualifying examination basis M.Phil./Ph.D. admission to Madras School of Social Work will be granted.
  • Madras School of Social Work application for admissions will be held online mode that is applicants in the official website of the college shall fill the form, upload the documents and go ahead with the application fee payment via Debit/Credit/Net banking or demand draft or by cash.

MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK

Duration: 2 years

Category of exam: post graduate exam

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Graduate in any discipline, of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 pattern or any other pattern (including professional courses) that fulfills the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education from a recognized University and approved by the University of Madras will be eligible for applying to the course.

MA-HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

Duration: 2 years

Category of exam: post graduate exam

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • A understudy who has passed four year college education in any teach from University of Madras or from other college acknowledged by the Syndicate as equal thereto, is qualified for admission to this course.

MA-HUMAN RESOURCE AND OD

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in any subject from any recognized University.
  • For the Self-Supportive Programme, a minimum work experience of two years is also required.

PG DIPLOMA IN HR & IR

  • Minimum Qualification for admission is a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.

B.SC PSYCOLOGY

Admission

Duration: 3 years

Category of exam: under graduate exam

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Candidates for admission to the first year of the Degree of Bachelor of Science courses shall be required to have passed the Higher Secondary Examinations (Academic or Vocational Stream) directed by the Government of Tamil Nadu or an Examination acknowledged as proportional thereof by the Syndicate of the University of Madras.

M.SC COUNSELLING PSYCOLOGY

Admission

Duration: 2 years

Category of exam: post graduate exam

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Graduate in Psychology or Counselling Psychology with a minimum 3 years course duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3) pattern that fulfils the mandatory requirements of 15 years full-time formal education from a recognized University and approved by the University of Madras. Age Criteria as per Government norms.

MA DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT

Admission

Duration: 2 years

Category of exam: post graduate exam

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Any student with a special interest and aptitude for management of organizations and people, with a Bachelor’s Degree, in any discipline, of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 pattern or any other pattern (including professional courses) that fulfills the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education from a recognized University and approved by the University of Madras will be eligible to apply for the course. Preference will be given to candidates with work experience from the Development Sector.

M.PHIL

Admission 

Duration: 2 years

Category of exam: doctorate

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Percentage criteria: The minimum marks for full-Time M.Phil. Degree course shall be 50% for the candidates who have qualified for the Master’s Degree in the respective discipline prior to 01-01-1991 and 55% for the candidates who have qualified for the Master’s degree on or after 01-01-1991.
  • There is no provision for rounding off of 54.5% and above marks to 55%. For candidates belonging to SC/ST Community and Disabled (Physically and Visually challenged) candidates, who have qualified for a Master’s Degree on or after 01-01-1991, a concession of 5% of mark, will be given in the minimum eligibility marks prescribed.
  •  The admission may be made on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates in qualifying examination and marks scored in the Entrance Test.
  • In the instance of hopefuls of University of Madras including those from self-sufficient school of this University both Internal and External imprints will be considered.
  • In the case of candidates who have obtained their P.G. Degree from different Universities, the imprints secured by them in the External Examination in addition to Entrance Test imprints will be thought about to arrive the merit list.

PH.D

Admission

Duration: 2 years

Category of exam: doctorate

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Percentage criteria: The candidate should have obtained a Master’s Degree with not less than Second Class or equivalent grade. In the case of Examinations where classification does not exist, a minimum 50% marks is needed in the qualifying exam..
  • Candidates should submit their application in the concerned Department on or before 2nd January, 1st April, 1st July and 1st October.
  • Registration for Ph.D. may be done throughout the year. Prescribed Application forms are available at the University of Madras.A candidate can register as a full time, part-time (internal) or part-time (external) subject to the provisions of these regulations and subject to the following: Research Fellows / Research Assistant / Technical Assistants / Project Assistants / Training Officers in extension departments approved by the University, appointed in the research ventures financed by perceived organizations/Government are additionally qualified to enlist for Ph.D. on a full-time premise in a similar division gave they fulfill the qualification criteria laid there in.

BACHELOR OF SOCIAL WORK

Hi,

  • Admission process for B.Sc. in Psychology  will be based on the eligibility of minimum aggregate marks in 10+2 Examination (PCMB)
  • Selection criteria will be based on Merit in the qualified examination marks.
  • The fee structure for BE/B Tech is INR 1.3 Lakhs.
