The prestigious IIMs hold the CAT 2023 exam on a rotating basis each year to admit students to the best business schools in India for various courses. The CAT exam is the most popular entrance exam, a gateway to 20 IIMs and over 1200 B-schools in India. CAT 2023 exam is expected to be conducted in 3 slots on November 2023 by one of the 20 IIMs. With the publication of the official notification, CAT 2023 registration will start the first week of August 2023. However, the authority has not updated any CAT 2023 Exam Dates officially. The official notification will be released in June or July 2023.

  • Aspirants need a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks to qualify for the CAT.
  • Number of attempts for the CAT exam is not limited.
  • The overall duration of the exam will be 2 hours. As per the CAT 2023 Exam Pattern, there will be 2 types of questions- MCQs and TITA.
  • For the appropriate response, three points are given. For incorrect MCQs, 1 mark is deducted, and there is no negative marking for TITA questions.

CAT 2023 Elgibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements to fill out the CAT 2023 Application form:

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in any discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum Grades: Graduates must have a min  cumulative GPA of 50% (45% for candidates from the reserved category).
  • Students in their final year degree are also eligible to apply for the CAT exam. As long as they graduate before the admission deadline. Candidates with professional degrees: CA, CS, or ICWA, may also apply.

CAT 2023 Registration

CAT  Registration for 2023 must be completed online at CAT's official website, iimcat.ac.in, the official website. The authority has not notified the official CAT 2023 application form release date. However, it is expected that it will be available from August 2023. The last date to apply for CAT 2023 will be September 2023. The information about the CAT registration procedure and costs is provided below.

Step 1: Registration

  • Visit the CAT 2023 official website.
  • Select "New Candidate Registration" and provide your name, DOB, email address, phone number, and country of residence.
  • After verification, a special user ID and password will be provided to your registered email address and mobile number.

Step 2: Fill out the CAT 2023 Application Form

  • Provide information about the candidate's personal information, education, and employment history, including your date of birth, gender, nationality, category, address, graduation rate, class rankings from grades 10 and 12, and your full-time employment history.
  • Depending on your preferences and the course you wish to enroll in, pick one of the IIMs.
  • Up to six cities can be chosen as CAT 2023 exam centers.

Step 3: Upload the documents

Upload a scanned replica of passport photo that is 30 mm x 45 mm in size. Additionally, attach a scanned copy of your signature that is 80 mm by 35 mm in size. The files should be no more than 80 KB each and in the.jpg or.jpeg file type. It should have a least resolution of 150 pixels per inch and be clear. The image must have a white backdrop and be no older than six months. On the day of the test, you must attach the same photo that was posted here to your admit card. Candidates should know that the CAT form will be rejected if the images do not meet the requirements.

Step 4: CAT 2023 Application fee payment

  • Only online payment selections are available for CAT 2023 application fees.
  • After completing the payment, submit the online application form and then download it for your records.

CAT 2023 Exam Pattern

IIM Ahmedabad updated the CAT exam pattern in 2021, and it is anticipated that these modifications would also apply to the CAT 2023 exam. Therefore, the question paper will be divided into 3 sections with a total of 66 questions following the CAT Exam Pattern 2023.

  • Exam Mode: The CAT 2023 exam will be administered in online CBT format at 438+ testing sites spread over 158+ important Indian cities.
  • CAT Exam Language: The exam is solely given in English.
  • Duration: 120 minutes total for the entire CAT exam.
  • Sectional time limit: Each of the three sections has a 40-minute time limit.
  • Question Type: MCQs and TITA-style questions make up the question types.
  • No. of questions: There are 66 questions in all. (70–75% MCQs and 25–30% TITA-style questions)
  • No. of sections: Three components total: Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) (DILR).
  • C.A.T. Marking Scheme: Each correct response receives three points, whereas each incorrect response receives one point less. There are no deducting points for TITA-style questions.
