The name of the college came into existence by Thomas Edward Ravenshaw first person to propose converting the collegiate school into a fully-fledged degree college after making government realize the difficulties of Oriya students to get admission and proper college education to succeed. The college campus is breathtaking once you enter; the campus does not feel like going back with that the world-class amenities and facilities are provided regardless of any background. Like other colleges and institutes in the initial days, the growth was slow, but eventually, as the institute came into light, the faculties and students number increased.
