IIT Goa - Ranking, Admissions 2026, Placements

Indian Institute of Technology Goa, the newest IIT, came into existence in 2016. Currently, IIT Goa is administrating from its temporary campus, Goa Engineering College. Located at Farmagudi, Ponda, which is 29km away from Panaji. However, the Government has approved 320 acres of land to construct the IIT Goa Permanent Campus. It is now being built at Sattari, North Goa. The institute offers B Tech, M Tech, and Doctorate Programmes in several technical domains.

The institute's B. Tech program is its flagship. The IIT Goa BTech program is available in four specialties. There are 157 seats available overall. The JEE Advanced followed by JOSAA Counselling determines admission to the B Tech. IIT Goa M Tech course is available in three disciplines. Admissions will be offered based on GATE Results. The MTech program, available at the PG level, is another popular course at IIT Goa. The IIT Goa MTech program features three specialties with a 36-seat admission limit. GATE scores and the COAP Counseling procedure are the only criteria used to determine admission to the program. Students with valid GATE scores must register on the COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal). Upon successful registration, they must again register on the IIT Goa admission portal.

IIT Goa Ph.D. Admission

The School of Mechanical Sciences, the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Electrical Sciences are the five academic departments at IIT Goa that provide Ph.D. admission. The course lasts three or 36 months, spread across six semesters.

To be admitted to IIT Goa's Ph.D. program in any field, the applicant must have earned a PG degree in a related field with at least 60 percent of the possible points (5 percent relaxation for reserved category applicants). Must hold a current Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from CSIR, UGC, NBHM, DBT, ICAR, ICMR, or ICPR in the appropriate streams, as well as a valid GATE score.

IIT Goa Summer Internships

NSM Nodal Centre for Training in HPC and AI (Artificial Intelligence) at IIT Goa offers summer internships. It is an Online Internship; the stipend will be INR 8,000 per month. The duration of the IITG internship is three months. However, all the interns will get paid only after the successful completion of their internships. IIT Goa Summer Internships 2022 are supported by the NSM (National Supercomputing Mission), Govt of India with CDAC.
