In 1970, International Centre for Distance Education and Open Learning (ICDEOL, Himachal Pradesh University) came into existence. It is a public university that offers distance education at UG and PG level. All the courses offered by ICDEOL is UGC recognized. Besides UG and PG courses, certification courses are also available. ICDEOL offers BA, B.Com, B.Ed and BCA at the UG level and MBA, MCA, MSc, M Com, MMC at the PG level. Also, Diploma and PG Diploma programs are available through distance mode. ICDEOL will offer admission based on the merit marks in the previous qualifying exam. For some courses, University will conduct an entrance test.

ICDEOL Himachal Pradesh University Eligibility Criteria

BA / B.Com:  Applicants applying for BA or B.Com admission at ICDEOL, Shall have passed in HSC /12^th with a minimum 33% average marks. BA admission seekers must have studied English as the main subject in the 12^th level. Whereas for B.Com, students shall have studied Maths and Economics as main subjects.

BCA: Students applying for the BCA distance course at ICDEOL must have passed in 12^th with at least 40% marks. Must have studied Maths as a main subject.

B.Ed: Aspirants who have done a UG or PG degree with a minimum of 55% can apply for B.Ed admission at ICDEOL. Besides, aspirants must have at least two years of teaching experience in government recognized school in Himachal Pradesh State. Students belonging to SC/ST can obtain at least 50%.

M.Ed.:  Students who have done B.Ed program with at least 55% marks are eligible to secure M.Ed admission at ICDEOL

MBA: Candidates seeking admission in Distance MBA at ICDEOL HPU shall have done a UG degree in any discipline with at least 50% average marks

MA / M.Com: Students applying for admission in MA or M.Com at ICDEOL must have done a UG degree in BA or B.Com with 50 per cent.

M.Sc.: Candidates who have obtained a minimum of 55% in B.Sc. or relevant discipline can seek admission to the M.Sc. at ICDEOL.

MCA: Aspirants who have done a UG degree BCA can apply for the MCA program in ICDOEL. They must have studied Mathematics as the main subject in UG / 12^th level. Selection is based on an entrance test score.

MMC: Students who have completed bachelor’s in any stream with 50% can apply for MMC (Master of Mass Communication) Students shall have studied English as the main subject.

PG Diploma: Any Graduates with a minimum of 50% can apply for PG Diploma Courses at ICDEOL.

ICDEOL Himachal Pradesh University Admission / Application Process

ICDEOL will offer admission to the UG, PG and Diploma courses based on merit marks in the qualifying exam except for the MCA course. Students willing to get admission in MCA have to sit for a university-based PG entrance test. Based on the score acquired in the entrance exam, MCA admissions will be given. ICDEOL conducts an offline application process, students required to download the form through the official website

How to apply?

• Go to the official website of HPU. On the home page, select ICDEOL. (ODL Programme)
• You can view the link of download application prospects. Download it and take a print out of same.
• You have to fill in the details mentioned in the application form. Affix a passport size photo along with a signature on it.
• Attach the important educational documents according to the prescribed guidelines; in case if documents are not attached, then it may lead to the cancellation of candidature
• ICDEOL HPU Application fees for UG, PG and Diploma courses cost nearly INR 300, and Applicants should make the payment through Demand Draft
