The G. S. Pillay and Sons Educational & Charitable Trust founded the EGS Pillay Engineering College in 1995 with the support of the Tamil Nadu government. It is a private institution with a 6-acre plot of land. The institute is allied with Chennai's Anna University. NAAC has accredited it with an "A" Grade.
