SSET was established in 2009 at Chandigarh in Punjab is prominently known to be a private institution for engineering and technology. SSET is a short form for Surya School of Engineering and Technology, and they have sought approvals by AICTE and the NBA and have affiliation with the PCI. This institute began to train its students to provide an effective learning system. SSET offers both UG and PG programs in engineering courses only, i.e.,  B-Tech,  and M-tech, courses in their respective choice for taking up specializations.

The institute's campus facilities are good enough for getting sufficient training in that particular course as there are more than 60 + faculty members appointed for teaching purposes. They recruit teaching staff after conducting a valid interview with theory and practical to know their effectiveness. The institution is also known for offering placement training for its final-year candidates wanting to take up jobs after the program training. The placement cell will arrange for one-on-one sessions for its students and analyze their strengths and weakness to work on them. Some of the well-famed companies acting as recruiters are Wipro, HCL, Jindal Steel & Power Dell, Airtel, Philips, IBM, Vodafone, Videocon, Infosys, Aricent Group,  LG, TCS, Godrej, Wipro, Accenture, etc. The top salary package to date is 10 LPA, and the average package to date is 2.5-3 LPA. 

The institute doesn't provide any particular scholarship facility for its students, and only merit scholarship from the government offers to the qualifying students. There is also some relaxation in fees for those from reserved category candidates.

• The B-Tech engineering course is for full four years. In SSET, the course offers six subject variants as Civil, Computer Science, IT, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Communication engineering.

• B-Tech's essential eligibility requirement is that candidates will have to finish their board exams with a minimum percentage of 45%.
• JEE Main is one such standard and competitive entrance exam for engineering courses. These qualifying exam scores will help the students secure admissions in good engineering colleges in the state or national-level entrance exams.
• For two years, the M-Tech program of SSET trains for full-time specializations like Civil, Electronics, and Mechanical engineering.
• The M-Tech admission requirements are—the candidates must complete their degree course, i.e., B-Tech in the related subject without any backlogs and aggregate CGPA of 6.5-7
• The M-Tech aspiring candidates must have participated in the GATE exam as it is the most considered exam for PG-level engineering courses like M-Tech.
• Any entrance exam scores are equally important with the last qualifying board or degree examination's merit scores.
