KIMS is a private institute that was started in the year 1976 and is affiliated with Karnataka University located at Dharwad. KIMS offers PG and research courses at the management level, providing admissions for more than 100 students.VTU conducts research courses like Ph. D.U with a KIMS research center.

For the MBA course at KIMS, the students must have a Graduate degree with a 50% score for general and 45% score for SC/ST, and a valid score in PGCET.

The Ph.D. admissions at KIMS are based on the VRAT exam conducted by VTU. The application process is offline, and a fee of INR 500 must be paid for the MBA course, and INR 800 must be paid for the Ph.D. course.
