In 1972, Sri Venkateswara University introduced correspondence courses to extend the boundaries of academic excellence beyond its campus. This initiative, known as the Institute of Correspondence Courses (ICC), was upgraded in April 1995 to become the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), following the norms set by the UGC. Currently, Sri Venkateswara University Distance Courses include B.Sc., BA, and B.Com, B.L.I.Sc., as well as various Post-Graduate Courses such as M.A., M.Com., M.Sc., M.B.A., and MSW.

 

The SVU Distance Education Centre also provides specialized programs, including PG Diplomas in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Guidance and Counselling, Hospital & Health Care Management, Journalism & Mass Communication, and Dress Designing & Garment Making. This expansion underscores the institution's commitment to extending quality education through distance learning.

Sri Venkateswara University UG Distance Education Admission

At the UG level, SVU Distance Courses are available such as BA, B Com, BSc and B.Lib.ISc. Candidates are mandated to ensure the eligibility norms to apply.

 

BA:  Anyone who has passed class 12th/HSC/Pre-University exams under approved boards and with English as a mandatory subject is eligible to apply for the BA program. Instead of offering different disciplines under the same course, the University opted for a fixed curriculum that touches upon various domains throughout 3 years of open learning.

 

B. COM: Similar to the BA course, the B. Com program is also open for all students, irrespective of their opted branches in school. Applicants must have valid class 12th certificates or any other proof of education that the University considers equivalent. Lastly, scoring more than 45% aggregate marks in mathematics is also necessary for eligibility purposes.

 

B. SC: The B. Sc course at the University is a distance learning 3-year program with a curriculum designed explicitly for imparting scientific concepts. For admission purposes, applicants must pass their HSC exams with decent marks or any other examination considered equivalent by the University under approved boards.

 

B.LiB.ISc:   Candidates should have completed their Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in any discipline. The degree should typically be a full-time program, and the institution might specify the duration of the program.

 

Sri Venkateswara University Distance Education PG Courses

SVU DDE offers admission to the MA, M Com, MSc, M Lib and MBA at the PG level.

 

MA: Candidates seeking admission in the open learning 2-year MA program should ensure they obtained their UG degree, preferably a BA, from an approved university. Although students from all backgrounds can apply for the course, everyone must have an SGPA of more than 1.9 in English-based subjects worth 18 credits. Also, those with a relevant UG degree, like a BA, B. Sc, BBA, etc., will be preferred over those with generic degrees.

M. COM: For admission in the 2-year M. Com course, students must have a B. Com degree from a UGC Approved university with more than 45% aggregate marks. Selected students can select a discipline from the General and Computer Science categories.

M. Sc: An M. Sc program is a PG course offered under the open learning category of 2-year programs wherein students must have a B. Sc degree to be eligible for admission. Also, the University will prefer applicants who possess their B. Sc in a similar domain in which they are applying for a master's. The final selection will be prepared on merit from the Bachelor's degree only. Enrolled applicants can access the Sri Venkateswara University Distance Education Results semester-wise.

Sri Venkateswara University Distance Education MBA Admission

Students willing to be admitted to the University's 2-year open-learning MBA program must ensure they have a valid UG degree from a familiar university. Also, general category students must have more than 50% aggregate marks in their Bachelor's exams, whereas those in the reserved categories can apply with 45% aggregate marks.

Also, the University will consider the applicant's work experience and extracurricular performance while foaming the final selection list. Those who have taken and passed any national-level management exams will also be given preference by the University.

·         SVU operates study centres for various courses. These centers are spread across different locations. Candidates might need to specify their preferred study at the SVU Distance Education Study centre on the application form.
