The IGNOU Regional Centre in Kolkata was established in 1988 and is situated on the fourth floor of Bikash Bhavan in Salt Lake City. This strategic location facilitates close engagement with state officials and policymakers regarding educational matters within the region. Notably, the state government offers the IGNOU Regional Centre to use office space without any rental charge. The centre includes a Computer Lab conducting theory and practical counselling sessions for programs like BCA, MCA and MLIS.

 

The Regional Centre is around 20 kilometres from the airport and 25 kilometres from the main Howrah Railway Station. The centre is well-connected by the public transportation system, making it convenient for numerous students and potential learners to visit the facility. On an average regular working day, the Regional Centre receives around 200 visitors, significantly increasing during admissions.

IGNOU Kolkata UG Admission

IGNOU Kolkata offers various UG courses under a wide range of specializations.

BA: The BA program allows students to specialize in Tourism Studies and English. This course has the eligibility condition of 10+2 from a recognized board or their BPP from IGNOU.

 

B.Com: Applicants who have passed HSC/10+2 are eligible for this course. However, the candidates who have not passed 10+2 but have a BPP degree from IGNOU are also eligible to apply.

 

BLIS: For Admission into this course, the candidates must have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks. A Bachelor's Degree with a Library Science Diploma is eligible for Admission into this course. A graduate with two years of working experience in a Library & Information Centre can apply.

 

BCA: Students interested in the IGNOU Kolkata BCA Course must have completed 10+2 with Mathematics as a separate subject. Candidates who did not study Mathematics as a separate subject in 10th grade must take MTE-03 in addition to the first semester of BCA. Before enrolling in the third semester of the BCA degree, students must complete the course MTE-03.

 

B.Sc: Students willing to apply for this course must have passed 10+2 from Science Stream. The university also provides a B.Sc degree in Optometry and ophthalmic Techniques. This course has its eligibility criteria as 10+2 passed from CBSE or equivalent. The candidates must have a combination of PCB with at least 45% marks.

 

BSW: This course is meant for those students who are interested in assisting people who are in need. The candidates willing to opt for this course must meet the minimum eligibility criteria of 10+2. Enrolled applicants are mandated to pay the IGNOU Kolkata admission fees.

 

BPP: It is a preparatory program designed for students who have not passed 10+2.

 

IGNOU Kolkata PG Admission

IGNOU Kolkata offers various postgraduate courses. These courses are for two-three years.

Candidates for MCA, for example, must have studied Mathematics separately in 10 + 2. Students who do not achieve this requirement must enrol in and complete the CS-60 course concurrently.

 

MA: The candidates must have a Bachelor's degree BA from any recognized university.

IGNOU MBA Kolkata

IGNOU's MBA courses are in high demand due to their prominence in the corporate world. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline, with a minimum of 50% in general and 45% in reserve.

                                          

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and three years' experience in supervisory /management/ professional sectors. A professional degree holder in engineering/ technology /medicine/architecture/law/ pharmacy field, professional qualifications in accounting/cost and works accounting/company secretaryship, etc., or a master's degree in any subject is also eligible for this course.

 

The performance of candidates in the OPENMAT examination determines their selection. Candidates taking CAT, MAT, or state-level exams are exempt from the OPENMAT.

 

IGNOU Kolkata also offers a Masters of Business Administration in Banking and Finance specialization. Candidates willing to opt for this course must be graduated and a member of the Indian Institute of Bankers. Additionally, the candidates must have passed the CAIIB exam of the Indian Institute of Bankers, Mumbai, and have been awarded the requisite qualification/ credentials by the institute. The candidates must have worked in the banking or financial service sector for at least two years.
