IP University Introduces New Programme On Fire And Life Safety Audit

The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has introduced a new programme - PG Diploma in Fire and Life Safety Audit from the academic year 2020-21. This new programme was offered in technical collaboration with National Fire Service College, Nagpur. The programme was inaugurated by Manish Sisodia Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi on December 3.  The Indraprastha University vice Chancellor Professor Mahesh Verma, Directorate of Fire Services, Delhi Government Satyender Jain and Fire Advisor, Minister of Industries, Civil Defence, DK Shami were present in inaugural function. 

In the metropolitan cities like Delhi with ever-increasing population in far flung colonies and crowded localities and unplanned growth are always under heavy fire risk. The potential of any fire accident can cause severe damage to life and property as seen in recent fire tragedies like Anaj Mandi fire, Arpit Hotel fire in Delhi and Takshila Arcade in Surat. IP University vice chancellor Mahesh Verma also added a fire and life safety audit is the most effective tool for assessing fire safety standards.

The IP University is all ready to provide admission to 50 students to the programme. As per the IPU statement all the seats are filled up by senior serving government officers and officers of prominent industries.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Fire and Life Safety Audit will provide standard plan to conduct the Fire and Life Safety Audit with proper procedure and format. This programme will bring out the potential of the professionals to serve the society  and Fire and Life Safety institutions in a better way.

"This programme gave us the opportunity to call upon the Fire and Life Safety institutions Centre for Disaster Management Studies (CDMS) to encourage and take advice of the officials  who will help us indentify the areas for immediate attention in various occupancies and timely corrective action,” said Amarjeet Kaur, Professor, Director of CDMS.  

Professor Kaur also added, being  the first university to launch the course of Postgraduate Diploma in Fire and Life Safety in India, we take the opportunity to provide the fire professionals to access greater knowledge along with the training system already available.
