IIM Shillong, formerly known as Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management. In the list of baby/ new IIMs established by the Government of India, IIM Shillong is the seventh. It is well known for its beautiful campus infrastructure 100% placement assistance. In addition, IIM Shillong has secured rankings and recognitions for its academic achievements. According to the NIRF Management Ranking 2021, IIM Shillong is ranked 23rd. The flagship course of IIM Shillong is PGP/MBA. Admission is based on the CAT Entrance Test followed by cut off criteria. Besides NIRF Rankings, many other Media Surveys such as Outlook I Care, India Today, Economic Times have recognized IIM-S and rewarded rankings.
As per Outlook, I Care 2021 Rankings, IIM Shillong secured 11th rank among the country's top 50 management schools. IIM Shillong is ranked 16th among India's top 100 business schools in the India Today MDRA ranking 2020.
IIM Shillong, which opened in 2007, is known for its strong return on investment, with an average CTC of INR 18-20 LPA. Compared to last year, the average CTC at IIM Shillong increased by 2.18 per cent during the 2019-21 placement drive.

In 2015, the National Institutional Rating Framework (NIRF) was established to develop methodologies for ranking Indian universities in several categories. This field-based ranking has created a competitive atmosphere for higher education and institutional reform. According to the NIRF 2020 management rankings, IIM Shilong is ranked 30th among the top 50 management colleges. In 2021, it bagged 23rd rank. Over the year, the position got increased.
