The Indira Gandhi National Open University [IGNOU] was started with the objective to democratising the education by offering higher education to the door steps of students. IGNOU presently offers counselling facilities in 334 study centres for management program. IGNOU School of management offers MBA studies across 21 courses through distance education mode.

Eligibility to take admissions for MBA in IGNOU

The basic eligibility is as per the norms of AICTE:

  • No age limit
  • Candidates holding any graduation degree (Including CA/ Company Secretary Ship, Cost Accountancy) with minimum 50% aggregate (general category)and 45% minimum (reserved categories) as per the rules of Indian Govt.
  • Candidates should have mandatorily cleared OPENMAT entrance exam of IGNOU directed by NTA (National Testing Agency).
  • Candidates should ensure to meet the specified eligibility before applying for any programme.

OPENMAT Entrance Exam for Distance MBA at IGNOU:

The management programme admissions at IGNOU are done on the basis of OPENMAT admissions test which is held during the month December and February directed by NTA.

For taking up OPENMAT candidates have to apply by filling the application form online by visiting the official website of IGNOU and paying the OPEMAT application fee of INR 1000 paid through debit card, credit card or net banking.

  • OPENMAT results will be displayed on the official IGNOU website and NTA website. The results score card of the students who have attended OPENMAT exam will be sent to them separately.
  • The score card will designate whether the students have qualified for admissions or not as per the minimum cut-off score of the University. If qualified they can proceed with the application process as given below.

Candidates seeking admissions can appear for OPEMAT exam. Candidates wishing to apply for more than one OPENMAT exams then they need to apply for each exam separately.

NOTE:

The admit card of OPENMAT Exam will be provisionally provided to students if fulfilled the eligibility criteria.

Admit card will be available in the NTA website for download and no candidates will be allowed inside the examination centre without the admit card.

Admissions for foreign students in IGNOU:

Foreign students who are seeking admission in IGNOU should have a valid student visa can apply for any IGNOU programs. The admissions process for foreign students will be administered by International division only after assuring the antecedents from the Ministry of External Affairs.

The application process of IGNOU

The IGNOU application form for getting admissions in Management program like MBA is to be filled and sent to the respective regional centres with all the necessary documents, testimonials, ID cards and application fee as mentioned below.

  • The application form is to be filled appropriately and send it through mail or submit it directly in the regional centre with attached requite documents before the last date.
  • IGNOU draws attention towards the basic eligibility of candidates to the programs so candidates are advised to attest a copy of applicable documents through which the eligibility is established.

The DD of INR 1800 should be enclosed as the application fee of the programme and be sure to write name, address and program code behind the DD leaf enclosed with application form.

NOTE:

The application fee to be paid through Demand Draft made in the favour of IGNOU and payable at your respective city of the regional centre.

  • Certificates copies (self-attested);
  • OPENMAT score card (original);
  • Hall Ticket of OPENMAT (Original);
  • Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC);
  • ID card (filled);
