Guidelines and Exam Day Instructions for GATE 2021

As per the timetable- GATE 2021 exam is conducted on Feb 6, 7, 13 & 14, 2021. As the exam dates are nearing, IIT Bombay has laid out some essential instructions for both students and staff while conducting the exam in terms of their safety measures. This set of regulations will enhance the chances of getting better scores and ranking in GATE 2021.

This year, there is a total record of more than 8.83 lakhs of registrations for GATE, a standard entrance test for almost many engineering colleges. Most PG-level engineering courses' admissions will depend on scores secured in this GATE exam.

A few of the guidelines set for GATE 2021 Exam Day are-

  • Students registered for the exam must report to their respective exam venue at least an hour prior so that there is no delay and last-minute rush while taking up the exam.
  • After coming to the venue, the student should check their application number and the room allotted. At the same time, they should follow the new rules at the place of exam amid the COVID situation and follow social distancing.
  • Before entering the exam center, the institution will have people arrange to check every student's body temperature and COVID test using guns. If in case of high temp. Of 99.4 degrees, students will be in isolation.
  • To maintain social distancing, the students' admit cards will be with bar code guns, and then they will be towards the room allotted to them.
  • There will be a double check of admit cards and ID proof once the students have entered the exam classroom.
  • The students will have to get their photographs clicked for further verification. Then they will be given individual computer systems to take up the exam as it is conducted via online mode.

Measures to be followed during the time of examination

  • Once the exam is started, candidates will be asked to sign in the list maintained by the lab's invigilator to verify with the original ID.
  • If any of the ID doesn't match or seems unfair, the candidate will be directly disqualified without any consideration.

Measures to be taken after the examination

  • The exam needs to be attempted in the given duration, and the students cannot leave the lab until the staff from the lab permits them to leave. Even after that, the student must move in an orderly manner with maintaining social distance.
  • The students must make sure that they aren't carrying any suspicious things during the exam, and while exiting the lab, all the assets should be dropped off in the box in the lab itself.

Measures to be remembered in case of the scribe

According to GOI rules, there are many relaxations for physically challenged candidates' like- giving them spare time and provide a scribe to take up the GATE exam on behalf of the candidate. Under this category, candidates should make their arrangements before the exam time to request a scribe or bring in their help. The permission letter from the authority should be in consent at the time of examination. They will be under separate invigilation with any help to take up the GATE exam.
