The College was established in the year 1999 located in Pondicherry. The College is approved under AICTE and Accredited by NAAC & NBA.SMVEC was established with the desire to impart appropriate technical education to aspirants. The College offers UG Course BE/B Tech and PG Courses in ME/M Tech, MBA & MCA.

• Admissions for the UG & PG Courses will be based on the CENTAC Counseling process, which Pondicherry Government will organize.
• Candidates looking to take admission for BE/B Tech in Lateral Entry must apply through CENTAC Counseling and obtain aggregate marks in Diploma.
• Candidates looking to take BE/B Tech Admissions through Management Quota must qualify for CETPPEC Entrance Exam, which will be organized under Pondicherry University. And must secure aggregate marks in the 10+2 Exam.
• Admissions for MBA are done according to the candidate's valid rank obtained in CAT/MAT/GMAT/ATMA/XAT Entrance exam and must secure 55% aggregate marks in 10+2 Exam.
• Admissions for ME/M Tech are done according to the valid score obtained in GATE Entrance Exam and must acquire 50% aggregate marks in bachelor's degree BE/B Tech.
• Reservation Criteria will be based on the norms of the Pondicherry Government and Pondicherry University.

Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College offers BE /B Tech in 7 Specializations, and the course duration will be 4 years. The basic eligibility for admission will be done according to the aggregate marks obtained in 10+2. It must appear for CENTAC Counseling based on Merit Candidates will be eligible for admission. Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College offers PG Course MBA in Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance, and System Management. The Eligibility Criteria for MBA, Candidates must be qualified with a bachelor's degree with 55% aggregate marks and must secure a valid rank in CAT/MAT/GMAT/ATMA/XAT Entrance exam.
