The Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) is in New Delhi. It is known to be one of the best government dental colleges in India. Established in 1983 as Maulana Azad Dental College and renamed Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences in 2006, the institute is an autonomous body under the Government of NCT of Delhi and is affiliated with the University of Delhi (DU). It is recognized by the National Dental Commission (NDC). MAIDS has been consistently ranked among the best government dental colleges in India for its academic excellence, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and excellent clinical exposure. The institute comprises a modern dental hospital, contemporary laboratories, research centres, a digital library, simulation facilities, and specialty clinics.
It provides the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) courses in different specializations. Admission to BDS is on the basis of NEET UG 2026 and as for to MDS programmes, it is on the basis of NEET MDS 2026. BDS admissions are
conducted through MCC (15% AIQ) and Delhi University State Quota
Counselling (85%), whereas MDS admissions are conducted through MCC and the respective counselling authorities. The institute has an approved intake of 50 BDS seats and 22 MDS seats.

Admission to the BDS programme is based on NEET UG 2026, followed by MCC All India Quota Counselling and Delhi University State Quota Counselling. Candidates must qualify for NEET UG and participate in the centralized counselling process. The BDS programme has a duration of 5 years, including one year of compulsory rotatory internship.

Eligibility – BDS

The applicant should have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. A minimum of 50% marks in PCB is required for General category candidates. Reserved category candidates are eligible for relaxation as per Government norms. The applicant must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31 December 2026. The applicant must have qualified for NEET UG 2026.
