The IGNOU Regional Centre in Patna was the first centre for Bihar, established on May 4, 1991. It initially covered the entire undivided state of Bihar. Later, after the division of the state into Bihar and Jharkhand, another regional centre was set up in Ranchi in March 2000 to cover the districts in Jharkhand. It led to 13 Study Centres under the Ranchi Regional Centre, while 20 remained under the Patna Regional Centre.

 

IGNOU Patna offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and vocational programs through open and distance learning. These programs cover diverse fields such as arts, science, commerce, education, and management.

 

Over its 27-year journey, the  RC IGNOU Patna has expanded its reach in student enrollment, program offerings, and study centres despite being divided into Ranchi, Darbhanga, and Bhagalpur Regional Centres. It covers 17 districts in Bihar and operates through a network of 48 Study Centres, including Regular Study Centres, Programme Study Centres, and Special Study Centres.

IGNOU Patna UG Admission

IGNOU Patna Centre offers various undergraduate courses under a wide range of specializations. These are courses of 3 years. However, students have the flexibility to complete it within maximum years of 4 to 5.

The UG courses include

  • BA
  • BCA
  • BSC
  • BSW
  • BPP

 

These UG courses require candidates to complete their 10+2 from a recognized board. Candidates are preferred depending on their presentation in the last qualifying examination.

In addition, there are other eligibility requirements for applicants to the BLIS program. Applicants must have a Second Class Bachelor's Degree with 50 percent marks or a Bachelor's Degree with a Diploma in Library Science.

Furthermore, individuals with a Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience working in a Library & Information Centre, or a Bachelor's Degree in a Professional field such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Law, etc., are eligible to apply for this course.

For Admission into the BCA, Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Mathematics as a separate subject. Candidates who did not have Mathematics as a separate subject at the 10+2 level must register for MTE-03 in addition to the first semester of BCA. Before enrolling in the third semester of the BCA degree, those students must successfully finish MTE-03.

 

IGNOU Patna  PG Admission

IGNOU Patna offers various postgraduate courses. These courses are for two years.

The courses offered under the PG discipline are MA, M.Ed, MCA, and MLIS.

 

All these courses have the essential eligibility criteria of having graduated in any discipline from any recognized university except the M.Ed course, which requires candidates to have a B.Ed or B.EIEd Degree.

However, specific courses have additional eligibility conditions. For instance, candidates applying to IGNOU Patna MCA must have had Mathematics as a distinct subject at 10 + 2. Students who don't fulfil this criterion must pursue and pass the CS-60 course concurrently
