Aligarh Muslim University was started in 1920 to oblige quality education in various departments. Presently, the university provides Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, and Doctoral Programs.

The university provides admission for foreign country candidates, and the university has even reserved seats for the Commonwealth and SAARC countries. The candidates can even select for access to University-based institutions, colleges, and centres. The application form for admissions can be filled out and submitted online on the official website of AMU, Controller Exam. The university even provides education through distance mode.

  • The university's admission is made in 2 ways, one is Department Admission Exam, which is conducted at the university, and the other is the Entrance Test conducted at the chosen centres.
  • Few courses, such as BA (Hons), BSW, B.Sc. (Hons), and B.Com (Hons) admission, are done based on the marks obtained in the test conducted by the applicable departments of the university.
  • Entrance exams for BA.LLB, MBA, and B.Ed. Are conducted only in Kozhikode, Kolkata, and Aligarh only.
  • Admissions for B.Tech and B.Arch. Are done through the AMUEEE exam that is conducted at various locations.
  • To get admission for BDS, MBBA, and BUMS, valid merit is necessary for NEET.
  • Entrance exams of MCA, MA, M.Sc., MFA, M.Ed., M.Li.Ed., MIRM, M.P.Ed., and MHRM are conducted by the university the concerned departments only.
  • The candidates qualified in the GATE exam can apply for the M.Tech course, and the university also conducts its exam for the remaining seats.
  • Admission for MS and MD is based on NEET PG, and for MDS, it is based on NEET MDS.
  • The university conducts a written exam and a personal interview for admissions to the PhD program.

  • According to AMU, PhD program application forms will be made available online from the 1st of August till the 31st of August.

Undergraduate Admission:

The university provides various Undergraduate courses for students with several specializations. The undergraduate courses' minimum eligibility criteria are 10+2 with 50% aggregate in the applicable streams. Admission is provided for the candidates through an exam conducted by the university department. For B.Tech and B.Arch. In courses, the basic eligibility is that the candidate must have 10+2 with PCM and an exam conducted for the admission AMUEEE. Additional aptitude test is mandatory for the candidates taking admission for B.Arch. Course.

Key Facts:

  • After their Diploma Secretarial Practices education, the applicants interested in B.Com (Hons) can also apply.
  • The University reserves seats for the migrating candidates of Kashmiri and candidates from the known madrasa/ Institution for the course BA (Hons).
  • The entrance exams are conducted only by the departments of the university.
  • AMUEEE Paper 1 is a mutual exam for both B.Arch. And B.Tech courses.
  • The candidates are applying for B.Arch. Will also have to score 40% minimum score in the Aptitude Test, which the university will lead.

Admission to these courses is based on the students’ performance in the NEET entrance exam, followed by counselling. To access the BUMS program, the student must attend the university’s concerned departments' exam. The primary eligibility criterion to attend the test is 10+2 with a 50% aggregate in PCB.

Post Graduate Admission:

The university offers various Post-Graduate courses with many specializations. The eligibility for admission to the Postgraduate courses is that the candidate must aggregate 50% in an Undergraduate degree in the applicable area. For a few times, the department of the university conducts exams.

The Postgraduate course duration varies from 2 years to 3 years depending on the course. To get admission to MCA, the candidate must have a mandatory mathematics subject in 10+2. For MBA, there will be a Group Discussion and Personal Interview Round. For M.Tech, even GATE qualified candidates can also apply for admissions after attending the university department's test.

  • 2 seats in every agricultural program are reserved for the ICAR candidates.
  • The exam conducted at the university includes 100 marks for 100 MCQs, which have to be completed in 120 minutes duration.
  • The students desiring to pursue MA in Persian or Arabic must have studied those languages at their Bachelor’s level.
  • The university conducts an exam of 100 marks in which 30% weightage will be given short answers and 70% for MCQs for admission to M.Sc. in Biodiversity Studies of Wildlife Sciences.
  • The exam conducted for MBA will include 200 marks with a duration of 180 minutes, followed by a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview.

  • The application processing fee of INR 500 has to be paid through a credit card, Debit card, or Net Banking.

If you're willing to join the BA program at AMU, you must have passed 10+2 board exams in any stream with a minimum of 55% marks. There is no entrance exam needed for admissions. The applications will be accepted online.

Aspirants must have finished their graduation to apply for Distance MBA/ PGDM. There is no entrance exam required for admissions. Selections will be based on academic merit.
