UGC: New Academic Calendar Released, 10 Important Updates

UGC also known as University Grants Commission  has announced few  guidelines for the academic year.

Due to the nationwide lockdown the education system of the nation has disturbed along with the other sectors. Hence the University Grants commission has brought certain guidelines for this academic year. The new guidelines and the academic calendar issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) is under the consideration of Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Pokhriyal Nishank.

This new guidelines were brought into consideration to reduce the academic loss of the students and help them with future measure to cope up with the same. The authorities has taken certain measure and steps to help the students and secure their future without having to compromise on the academics.

University Grants Commission (UGC): Important guidelines on exams and new academic calendar

1. For the Intermediate semester students grades will be based on internal assessment of the present and previous semester. In some of the states where the Covid-19 situation is normal, exams will be conducted in the month of July.

2. Students enrolled for terminal semester exams, will be conducted in the month of July.

3. To solve the issues of students related to academic calendar and examinations, a Covid-19 cell will be will be permitted to established in every university.

4. For faster decision making, a Covid-19 cell in the University Grants Commission needs to be created.

5. Universities can conduct terminal or intermediate semester or year examinations in online mode or offline mode based on their convenience.

6. All the universities can conduct the Viva-Voce Examinations and practical examinations using Skype or any other online meeting applications.

7. All the Universities across the nation has been instituted to follow a 6 - day week pattern.

8. Universities can adopt innovative and efficient examination modes by reducing the exam time from 3 hours to 2 hours.

9. Period of lockdown may be treated as 'deemed to be attended' by all the students/ research scholars.

10. For the candidates pursuing M.Phil courses of Ph.D course, the University Grants Commission has provided 6 months extension to complete their course.
