A two-year full-time MBA is a flagship program. Check out the SJMSOM Mumbai MBA eligibility, selection criteria, and cutoff requirements.

SJMSOM Eligibility

Applicant must satisfy one of the following criteria:

1. A four-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline with first-class or 60% marks (55% in case of SC/ST category) in aggregate or a least CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) out of 10 from any recognized university.

2. CA (Chartered Accountancy), CS (Company Secretary), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), ICWA (Cost and Works Accountancy), or FRM (Financial Risk Manager), with a first-class UG degree in any discipline having secured 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in aggregate (including all years/semesters) or a minimum CPI of 6.5  

3. Applicants appearing for the final degree examination are eligible subject to the above criteria mentioned at the time of admission.

SJMSOM MBA Selection Criteria

SJMSOM does not have a separate entrance examination other than the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs. Therefore, clearing the Shailesh J Mehta School Of Management CAT Cut-Off would be necessary. As mentioned above, after the declaration of CAT results, eligible candidates can apply for the Institution, and shortlisted applicants will be called for further selection rounds.

The personal interview round, usually conducted in the first week of March, would be the shortlisting criteria. It should be noted here that candidates must apply separately for CAT.

How to Apply for MBA in SJMSOM IIT Bombay?

Applying for the Institute is fairly straightforward if you clear the SJMSOM Cutoff. Then, you can fill out the SJMSOM application form online from the Institute's website. Once you fill in all the requisite details and upload the documents requested, you can submit your Application for the course you are aiming for.

Candidates should pay extra attention when choosing the course they want to pursue, as this would be crucial for their selection rounds. It is highly advised to read the brochure thoroughly before applying for any course. Meeting the CAT cutoff is a basic prerequisite for being eligible for admission.

Shailesh j Mehta School of Management EMBA Admissions

SJMSOM IIT Bombay EMBA program is offered in collaboration with Olin Business School, Washington University in Saint Louis, USA. It is a self-financed program for experienced professionals who want to further their expertise. The fields covered under this program are industry, banking, consulting, and information technology.

SJMSOM EMBA Eligibility

Candidates interested in the course must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in India or any other country
  2. Minimum of 7 years of work experience with 5 years in a managerial position

The Institute has given further preferable criteria for selection purposes:

  1. Recommendation and support for the employer of the candidate for the duration of the EMBA program
  2. Proficiency in speaking and writing English
  3. Functional computer skills

SJMSOM EMBA Selection Criteria

Having at least two completed letters of recommendation must fulfill the criteria. After receiving a duly filed application, the admission committee would invite shortlisted candidates for personal interview rounds. It should be noted that this admission committee would include a panel of experts from IIT Bombay.

Based on ratings earned during the interview round, the panel would recommend accepting or rejecting the Application. Finally, it would be advanced to the head of the Institution, who would take the final call for their acceptance into the SJMSOM Executive MBA.

How to Apply for EMBA in SJMSOM?

The EMBA is an 18-months part-time residential program that requires due diligence from applicants. The first step towards the SJMSOM IIT Bombay application form would be to prepare all required documents in the prescribed format. Then, the Application would be invited via the Institute's website. After filling out their Application, the applicants would need to visit the campus for their interview rounds if invited.

Shailesh j Mehta School of Management Ph.D. Admission

SJMSOM offers Ph.D. programs in several disciplines. A detailed list of all the courses offered by the Institution can be found on the Institute's website. Applicants must have a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in their qualifying degree. To elaborate, the following degrees subject to certain requirements are eligible.

Qualifying degree

  • Master's or equivalent degree in Engineering/Technology 
  • Master's or equivalent degree in science
  • Master's or equivalent degree in Arts/Commerce (or allied subjects)

It should also be noted that candidates must take the entrance test as well.

  • Valid GATE/CEED/ score 
  • Selected through National Eligibility Test – UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) 
  • It was selected through a national examination conducted by MHRD or its agencies /Institutions such as UGC/ IIT/ IISc./ IISER/ IIIT etc. 
  • Selected provisionally for the DST INSPIRE Fellowship (provisional award letter to be produced) 
  • Minimum of TWO years of professional experience (acquired after obtaining the qualifying degree and completed before the start of the semester in which admission is sought) 

Selection Criteria

The Institute offers admission based on personal interviews. These interview rounds are usually conducted a month before the beginning of the semester for which the applicant is applying. So, for example, someone applying for the August (autumn) session would have their interview round in July.

Subject to the decision declared by the Institute, applicants may also have to appear for a written test. The shortlisted students will be selected based on their cumulative scores. It is important to remember that each applicant must satisfy all the eligibility criteria (general and specific) as mentioned by the Institute each year. Also, applicants eligible for more than one discipline can only have one claim.

How to Apply for Ph.D.?

The Institute releases its admission offer once every year. The same month of application form availability may vary depending upon the Institute's discretion. Applicants can fill out the SJMSOM IIT Bombay admission form online on the Institute's website. It is important to remember that every required document should be in the prescribed format. Applicants must take special care to address each applicable eligibility criterion.

Shailesh j Mehta School of Management IDDDP Admissions

The B School offers the Inter-Disciplinary Dual Degree Program ( IDDDP ) in Management. It is a 5-year Integrated MBA with specialization offered in B Tech/BS/Dual Degree to students of IITB. It is a useful course for applicants seeking a dual degree in BTech and MBA with a specialization. After successful completion of the course, both of these respective degrees with their respective specialization will be offered by the Institute.

IDDDP Eligibility

As mentioned earlier, students who are currently pursuing their B.tech./B.S./DD at IIT Bombay can get a chance to apply for this course. The following are certain criteria they must fulfill:

  1. Each student must have a least CPI of 7.0 at the end of the 6th semester
  2. No backlogs are acceptable
  3. Students must indicate their area of specialization 

IDDDP Selection Criteria

Students who fulfill the eligibility criteria will be considered for admission to the Inter-Disciplinary Dual Degree Program ( IDDDP ) in Management. At the end of the 6th semester, they can choose this major. The shortlisting of candidates could be subject to various factors such as projects undertaken, number of applications, academic performance in the Bachelor's degree, and so on. Usually, the shortlisting ratio is 5:1.
