Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), a government medical college in Patna, Bihar was established in 1970. It is a National Medical Commission (NMC) recognized college and is affiliated with Aryabhatta Knowledge University. Being among the top government medical colleges in Bihar, NMCH has a large multi-specialty teaching hospital attached to it, which offers extensive clinical training both to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The college is well recognized for its skilled faculty, academic rigor, and a large patient inflow in different specialties.

Nalanda Medical College and Hospital offers MBBS at the undergraduate level and MD/MS courses at the postgraduate level. Besides that, they also have B.Sc. Nursing and other allied health science programs. Admissions for MBBS are done based on NEET UG scores through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for 15% All India Quota and Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) for 85% State Quota. For MD/MS, the admissions are based on NEET PG scores through counseling by MCC and Bihar PGMAC. At present, the college has 250 MBBS seats and more than 100 MD/MS seats in different branches. As a government medical college, NMCH does not offer Management or NRI quota seats for MBBS admissions.

Nalanda Medical College MBBS Admission 2026

Each year Nalanda Medical College admits 250 MBBS students through NEET UG counselling. Admission is purely on the basis of NEET merit. 15% of the seats are allotted through MCC All India Quota counselling, whereas the remaining 85% are filled through Bihar State Counselling by BCECEB. Since NMCH is a government medical college, admissions are fully merit-based and there are no Management or NRI quota seats. The college continues to be a major preference for those seeking government medical education in Bihar.

Eligibility- MBBS

  • Must have passed Class 12 from a recognized board.
  • Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English should be compulsory subjects.
  • Minimum 50% marks in the PCB group for General category candidates.
  • Minimum 40% marks in PCB for reserved category candidates.
  • Must be at least 17 years old by 31 December 2026.
  • Must have qualified NEET UG 2026.

Nalanda Medical College MD/ MS Admission 2026

Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), Patna, has offered 104 MD/MS seats in clinical, para-clinical and pre-clinical disciplines. Admission is based on NEET PG scores through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the 50% All India Quota and the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) for the 50% State Quota. The college offers postgraduate training in General Medicine, Radiodiagnosis, Paediatrics, Dermatology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anaesthesiology, Psychiatry, Pathology, Community Medicine, and other specialties.

Nalanda Medical College and Hospital Admissions process are carried off, via the offline mode through the colleges’ admissions office. NMCH application fee is quite feasible up to INR 1K. The eligibility criteria for the MBBS program basically includes that the candidate should be of min. 17 years of age and should have passed their 12th grade in science stream, with PCB as majors having secured a min. of 50% average marks. The candidates seeking for merit admissions need to take-up the NEET-UG entrance exam and obtain a NMCH cut-off score that is at least of 40th percentile for reserved category and 50th percentile for UR category to be considered for all India Ranking. NMCH direct admissions does not require the candidate to qualify for the NEET-UG.

Nalanda Medical College and Hospital admissions are strictly on the basis of minimum cut-off marks that they have set in college for selecting the students for admissions. It is important for each and every student who is seeking for MBBS admissions in this college must actually meet the minimum cut-off criteria of the college. This is because this is government medical college and they do not offer private quota or any other direct admission. NMC cut-off marks that each of them should get is between 2138 to 3802 ranking in the NEET. This is the only and main way to get seat in this college.

Students looking for B.Sc. admissions must have passed 10+2 with merit scores in the science stream. There are no direct admissions at NMCH.

The only eligibility criteria for the B.Sc. The nursing program is passing 10+2 in the science stream from a recognized board.
