Government?????? Medical College (GMC) Jammu is one of the distinguished government medical institutes in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It was founded in 1972 and is situated at Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. The college is a constituent part of the University of Jammu and has the full recognition of the National Medical Commission (NMC). GMC Jammu’s growth has been remarkable since its inception, when the college intake was just 50 MBBS students per batch.
Currently, GMC Jammu is among the top government medical colleges with an annual intake of 180 MBBS students. Apart from MBBS, the college has MD and MS postgraduate courses in 17 departments with a total of 168 PG seats, PG Diploma programs, and B.Sc. Paramedical courses with eight specializations, and GNM nursing.
MBBS admissions are made based on NEET UG rank through JK BOPEE state quota counselling 2026 (85%) and MCC All India Quota counselling 2026 (15%). PG admissions are through NEET PG. B.Sc Paramedical admissions are through CET conducted by BOPEE. Candidates having the J&K domicile can apply for state quota seats through BOPEE.

The college offers 180 MBBS seats every year. NEET UG rank is the criterion for admission. Among these, 15 percent seats are allotted to All India Quota through MCC counselling and 85 percent to BOPEE counselling. For state quota seats, J&K domicile is mandatory. Due to low fees and excellent clinical training, the college remains a prime government medical option for Jammu-based NEET aspirants.

• Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are the compulsory subjects.
• Minimum 50 percent marks in PCB (40 percent for reserved categories).

GMC Jammu arranges 168 PG seats in 17 disciplines including MD General Medicine, MS General Surgery, MD Paediatrics, MD Radiology, MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MD Anaesthesia, MD Psychiatry, etc. Seats are filled on the basis of NEET PG results. Only 50 percent of the seats are allotted to All India Quota through MCC counselling and 50 percent to the J&K state quota through BOPEE PG ??????counselling.

Government Medical College Jammu offers MBBS program of five years duration. The candidate will have to possess a certain set of criteria’s to get through Government Medical College Jammu admissions. The criteria’s basically involve the candidate will have to be a min. of 17 years of age and should have passed their 12th grade or an equivalent in science stream with physics, chemistry and biology as their majors, having secured a min of 50% average marks from a recognized institute. GMCJ direct admissions are done based on the eligibility criteria and GMCJ merit admissions require the candidate to additionally appear for the NEET-UG and obtain a valid score.
I did my graduation in MBBS at GMC, Jammu and I had a very good experience of 5 years in this institute. After the completion of 4 years I also did my internship in the associated hospital and I gained practical knowledge and even I got around 9,000 stipend. Government Medical College Jammu admissions for MBBS course are basically offered on the basis of NEET score. Candidates who secured in NEET must register themselves through online by visiting the respective site and then we must select the course and college in optional after that based on our score seat will be allocated .GMC NEET cut off score is 701-134 for general category and for OBC/ST/SC category the cut off score is 133-107.
