Admission Procedure & Eligibility in Banaras Hindu University

Banaras Hindu University which is commonly known as BHU was previously known as Central Hindu College. The university was established as a public central university in the year 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. BHU is the only university that has IIT inside the campus which is known as IIT BHU. The University is organized into six institutes, fourteen faculties and 132+ departments. The total students’ enrolments in the university go above 30000 from all over the world.

Note:

  • For ST/ SC category candidates there is no obligation of minimum aggregate of marks in any qualifying exams except they should have passed in the qualifying exams and should have attended the related entrance examination.
  • In case of PC and OBC candidates, they do have 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks scored in the qualifying exam compared to general category.

Under Graduate Admission through UET:

The university offers various specializations under the courses provided at Undergraduate Level such as B.Com. (Hons), BA (Hons), B.Sc. (Ag), B.P.Ed, BFA, BPA, Shastri (Hons), B.Sc. (Hons), B.Ed., Bachelor of Vocational Programs and the duration depends on the course nature.

The candidate must have a graduate degree in the related stream to get admission to B.Ed. and B.P.Ed. Later the candidates who are eligible will have to attend common entrance exam named as UET which is led by the University.

LLB and BA.LLB Admission:

The University also offers LLB and BA.LLB programs to the ambitious candidates who are seeking their future in the Law field. The course duration for BA.LLB is 5 years and for LLB it is 3 years. To get admission into BA.LLB, the candidate must have passed in 10+2 or equal exam in the related stream. The candidates who are eligible will have to attend UET led by the University.

  • The candidate will not be eligible for admissions to BA.LLB if he has passed 10+2 from an Open University System directly without any basic qualification.
  • To get admission for the law program, the ST/SC candidate will have to pass qualifying exam with min of 40%.
  • In case of PC and OBC candidates, they do have 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks scored in the qualifying exam compared to general category.
  • The total intake for the law program is 60 students.

BDS and MBBS Admission through NEET:

The University provides MBBS and BDS program for the candidates and the admission to these programs are through NEET. The candidates can choose the University only after the candidate’s MCC counseling. The basic eligibility for admission to these programs is to have 50% aggregate in 10+2 PCB with English and the minimum age limit is the candidate must not be above 17 years and there is a relaxation of 5 years for reserved categories.

 

Post Graduate Admission through PET:

The University provides many Postgraduate courses such as MA, Acharya, MBA and MPA with several specializations and all the courses are of 2 years duration. The candidate’s score in PET led by the University is the base for admission to the above mentioned courses.

Application Process:

All the candidates have to follow the steps for admission to the university:

  • The applicants are supposed to visit the entrance exam or BHU official website.
  • The application form has to be filled online
  • The application fee of INR 500 for general and INR 250 for reserved has to be paid online through Credit or Debit card or Net banking or can even be paid in cash through a challan of HDFC bank.
  • The application fee for MBA course is INR 1500 for General and OBC students and INR 800 for reserved category students.
  • If the candidate is interested in more course then the application fee of INR 200 for General and OBC and INR 100 for reserved per course has to be paid.

  • Candidates should have completed graduation from a recognized university in the relevant domain.
  • A valid score in BHU PET entrance test is mandatory. The fee for the course would be approximately INR 120000/- for the complete course.

  • For admission in BHU MBBS candidates have to appear for NEET exam which will be conducted on May 5, 2019 and admission will end by June-August.

The Admission Procedure and the Eligibility Criteria for the course MSC in Banaras Hindu University is:

The Eligibility Criteria is:

  • The aspirants need to have B.Sc. (Hons.)/B.Sc. Under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing 50% pattern securing 50% marks in aggregate in Science subjects
  • Or if not the aspirant need to have B.Tech./B.E. (in any course) by securing minimum 65% marks

And the Admission Guidelines is:

  • The Admission is based on post graduate entrance exam (PET) conduct by Banaras Hindu University.

And the fee is:

  • The fees for the course MSC is 2666 for the 1st year
  • And the fees for the complete 2 years is 5332
  • And the duration of the course is 2 years, and it is offered in a full time basis.
