Azim Premji University is a private non-profit university located in Bangalore, Karnataka. It was established in 2010 and approved by the UGC (University Grants Commission) and BCI (Bar Council of India). Although the University offers a limited number of courses, they have been quite popular among the students. Azim Premji University  Courses are classified into UG and PG in certain streams, such as Arts, Science, Education, Law, Management, etc.

The full-time UG programs are available in B.Sc, BA, and integrated dual degree B. Sc +B. Ed. In addition, it offers PG Courses such as MA and LLM. Azim Premji University Course admission depends on the entrance test and academic merit in the last qualifying exam. Moreover, the University mandates eligible students to take the Azim Premji University entrance exam and participate in personal interviews. These rounds serve the purpose of shortlisting candidates for final offer letters. According to the seat matrix, 25% of the seats are reserved for students who belong to Karnataka.

The University also offers scholarships based on 2 factors- annual family income and professional working experience at the time of applying (in the case of the PG courses only). Azim Premji University Entrance Exam

Azim Premji University B. Sc Admission

For BSc Courses, applicants must have scored 50% aggregate marks in class 12th exams from a nationally recognized or state board. Although students from all the valid streams (Science/ Arts/ Commerce) will be accepted, the University will prefer candidates who have studied Science subjects that they will be pursuing in their chosen Bachelor's degree.

After satisfying the Azim Premji University eligibility criteria, the selected students will be asked to take the university-based entrance exam. After taking the exam, some candidates will be shortlisted for the final personal interview round. Lastly, the admission authority will draft the Azim Premji University merit list based on the scores from the entrance exam and the personal interview.

Azim Premji University BA Admission

The Azim Premji University BA Economics course is a flagship UG program. According to the eligibility criteria, applicants are expected to have the merit of more than 50% aggregate marks in class 12th exams. Students from relevant streams may apply and take the institution's official entrance exam. The Azim Premji University entrance exam syllabus will comprise topics taught in class 10+2 on various boards, such as CBSE/ ICSE. After taking the entrance exam, the qualified students will be invited for a personal interview conducted by the University.

Apart from Indian students, Azim Premji University also accepts foreign nationals who have taken the SATs and performed satisfactorily well in the IB exams. Those applying at the GCSE level must submit scorecards of at least three core subjects.

Azim Premji University B. Sc + B. Ed Admission (Integrated)

University offers admission to a full-time, 4-year integrated dual degree course named B. Sc + B. Ed. This UG program is a residential course that offers a dual degree in science and education. It's unique and has been approved by UGC as well. For admission to this course, candidates must get at least 50% aggregate marks in HSC/ Pre-University/ class 10+2 exams. The selection of applicants is based on the entrance test administered by the University.

Azim Premji University MA Admission

For admission to the MA, Applicants must have a relevant Bachelor's degree from a UGC-approved University, and that graduation course must be at least 3 years long. The University will accept valid Bachelor's degrees in any stream except for the MA in Economics. Therefore, aspirants seeking admission to the Azim Premji University MA Economics program must complete a BA/ B. Sc Economics degree.

However, suppose any student displays exceptional knowledge of the domain of Economics in personal interviews with Subject Matter Experts. In that case, they will be offered admission into the MA Economics program. Besides having a bachelor's degree, applicants are expected to take the entrance exam. The Azim Premji University PG Entrance Exam date is in July.

Although the University accepts applications from UG freshers, it encourages applicants with professional work experience to apply more. Therefore, students with this experience will be prioritized during the admission rounds as they will be exempted from several selection rounds. Moreover, Azim Premji University offers a 50% fee waiver to applicants with at least 3 years of specialized work experience in their relevant field.

While applying to the full-time Master of Public Health, it is mandatory to have at least 2 years of working experience. Lastly, 25% of the seats have been reserved for students domiciled in Karnataka.

Azim Premji University LLM Admission

The University provides admission to a full-time, one-year LLM program specializing in Law and development. Aspirants must have a full-time LLB degree from a UGC (University Grants Commission) and BCI (Bar Council of India) approved University.

The University will prioritize students who have taken the entrance exam and participated in personal interviews. Applicants with professional working experience in a relevant field will be given preference. Like other Azim Premji University PG courses, 25% of the total seats in the program will be reserved for students in the state of Karnataka.

Azim Premji University Entrance Exam

Azim Premji University conducts an entrance exam annually to select students for all its UG programs. The entrance exam is divided into 2 portions, and the syllabus is similar to that taught in class 10+2. Every correct answer will be awarded 2 marks, whereas the incorrect ones will get just a negative 1 mark. Lastly, unanswered questions will not be awarded any marks. Note: Each multiple-choice question carries 1 mark. Please note that there will be no negative markings for any wrong question. The test taker is awarded a +1 mark for every correctly answered question and -0.5 for a wrong answer. Fortunately, the unattempted questions get no marks at all.

This entrance exam is conducted online at centers all over the country. After paying the registration fee, the Azim Premji University admit card can be downloaded directly from the University's website. Personal interviews will be conducted on Zoom, so links for the meetings will be shared on the applicant's email ID.

Azim Premji University Application Process

Azim Premji University accepts applications in both online and offline formats.

Online Mode

  1. Candidates can visit the official Azim Premji University website and click on dropbox. After clicking, they must select their desired UG or PG program from the list.
  2. Now, click on the 'Apply Now button, which will redirect the applicant to a new web portal.
  3. Students may now fill out the Azim Premji University online application by providing the correct contact details, academic records, such as qualifying exam scores, marks from the entrance exam, certificates, and relevant professional information.

Note: If any of the information provided by the applicant is found to be incorrect or misleading, the University will immediately reject the application.

  1. Also, attach self-attested scanned copies of important documents like certificates, degrees, scorecards, mark sheets, LORs, SOPs, aadhar cards, etc.
  2. Lastly, pay the requisite Rs. 1100 Azim Premji University application fee via any online gateway like Net Banking, UPI, Debit Cards, etc. This application fee is non-refundable, and paying it doesn't guarantee admission to a program.

Offline Mode

  1. In the offline mode, students must prepare a valid DD in favour of the Registrar of Azim Premji University. Moreover, the correct and complete contact details must be mentioned at the back of the DD so the University can post the official application form to the applicant's house.
  2. After receiving the admission form from the University, students may now fill out all the required fields in a similar way as mentioned above. However, it must be ensured that no column marked with a red star is left empty, as it may lead to the rejection of the application.
  3. Students must also attach self-attested photocopies of important documents like certificates, degrees, mark sheets, scorecards, etc., to prove what has been filled in the form.
  4. Lastly, pack the completed application form and post it to the University's main address in Bangalore.
