Visvesvaraya Technological University is a State Government University also considered as the Public University of Karnataka. This University was established in the year 1998 which the Karnataka Government started. There are around 208 colleges that are affiliated with VTU.

VTU- Visvesvaraya Technological University B.E and B.Arch Admissions:
The courses offered are B.Tech, B.Tech Lateral Entry, and B.Arch at the UG level. B.Tech is of 4 years duration for all the UG courses, and B.Arch is a 5 years duration course. VTU also offers B.Tech lateral entry for diploma students, direct admission to the 2nd year of B.E of 3 years duration.
Admission to the B.E course in VTU will have to qualify for the entrance exam as stated below:
Karnataka State Level Entrance Test- KCET conducted by the KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority).
National Level Entrance Test- JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) is the all India level entrance for engineering colleges.
NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) must take admission for B.Arch.

VTU- Visvesvaraya Technological University M.Tech and M.Arch Admissions:
VTU offers M.Tech and M.Arch as Post-graduation programs under the engineering stream in Technology and Architecture. In M.Tech, there are many specializations and 2 years duration course.
M.Tech Admission is made as per the entrance test, i.e., GATE or the University level entrance test of VTU.
If GATE is qualified, such candidates will be exempted from the VTU entrance exam.
