Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, also known as SKIMS, under the State Legislature Act in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir, is the largest medical Institute.

The university incorporates various departments like surgery and allied, medicine and allied, and other support departments.

Minimum eligibility and admission criteria for MBBS:

  • The student must have passed in 10+2 examination with a minimum of 50% of marks with PCM as subjects and 40% for SC and ST category students from a recognized board to be eligible for the MBBS course in SKIMS.
  • To get admission to SKIMS, students must have appeared in the NEET UG examination. And the selection is based on marks obtained in NEET.

Minimum eligibility and admission criteria for B.Sc.:

  • To be eligible for B.Sc., the student must have passed the 10+2 examination with 50% marks in PCM/PCM from a recognized board and 40% to the SC and ST category students.
  • Admissions are based on marks scored in Common Entrance Test(CET).

Minimum eligibility and admission criteria for MD and MS:

  • SKIM provides Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery in 13 different disciplines with two years.
  • The student should have a degree in MBBS to be eligible for these courses.
  • To get admission to these courses, students have to appear for the NEET PG entrance exam. And admissions are based on marks in NEET PG.

Minimum eligibility and admission criteria for M.Sc. and DMRIT:

  • SKIMS provides M.Sc. in 15 different disciplines with two years and provides DMRIT in 2 fields with one year of duration.
  • Students should have a degree in B.Sc. in a particular discipline with 50% of aggregate marks from a recognized institute to be eligible for both the courses.
  • The selection of students for admission is based on marks scored in the written test conducted by the University (SKIMS).

Minimum eligibility and admission criteria for PG Diploma and DNB:

  • SKIMS provides one year PG Diploma course and three year DNB course.
  • Eligibility is that the candidate should have a degree in MBBS from a recognized university.
  • Admissions to these courses are based on marks in the previous qualifying examination.

Minimum eligibility and admission criteria for Ph.D.:

  • SKIMS provides a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 4 different disciplines with a duration 0f 2-5 years.
  • The student should have a post-graduate degree to be eligible for a Ph.D. with 50% of marks in written and practical and viva-voce exams conducted by the college.
  • Admissions are based on the marks in the entrance exam and merit basis.

Minimum eligibility and admission criteria for DM and M.Ch:

  • SKIMS offers super-specialty courses like Doctor of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch) with a duration of 3 years.
  • The student should have a degree in MBBS from a recognized university and must have an MD/MS degree by SKIMS or any other university recognized by MCI.
  • Admissions are based on scores in competitive entrance exams conducted by SKIMS.

Candidate must be graduated and must have Bachelor Degree in Medicine (MBBS) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks of any incorporated universities, either state or central.

UG courses

(MBBS/B Sc.)

Age: As of 31st December of admission, the candidate age should be 17 years or above.

For only SC/ST candidates, relaxation of 3 years.

Education Qualification :

Aspirants should have completed 12th or intermediate with a minimum of 50% aggregate score in PCB taken together from a  recognized board.

Institute will provide 5% relaxation to aspirants from reserved categories like SC/ST/OBC.

 

Post Graduate Diploma

(PG Diploma/DNB)

The candidate must be graduated and must have Bachelor's Degree in Medicine (MBBS) from a recognized university.

Ph .D

The candidate must be graduated and must have Bachelor's Degree in Medicine (MBBS) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the professional examinations. 

D.M/M.Ch

Aspirants must have an MBBS degree recognized by MCI and MS degree in General Surgery awarded by the SKIMS or any other university recognized by MCI.
