BITS Pilani is a leading technical institution for higher education. Over the years, BITS has offered the highest quality education to students from all over India. BITS Alumni can be found worldwide in all the areas of science, engineering, and commerce. BITS Pilani NIRF Ranking 2022 is 29th for B Tech and 32 for the overall category. Moreover, the Ministry of Education has recognized it as an Institute of Eminence. Besides, it has been internationally recognized by featuring on the QS Ranking list. Therefore, the BITS Pilani admission process is rigorous due to the high demand for admission seats.

BITS has three national campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. One more BITS campus is located in Dubai. BITS Dubai campus was established for the educational needs of Gulf Co-operation council countries. Here admission is open to all nationalities. Admission to all three campuses takes place in a combined process.

BITS Pilani Courses include B.Tech/BE, B.Pharm, M.Tech, M.Sc, M Pharm, MBA, and Ph.D. programs. Admission to the B Tech, B Pharm, and MSc will be granted based on the entrance test conducted by Institute, which is popularly known as BITSAT. Students applying for M Tech or M Pharm must appear for BITS HD. If they have valid scores in GATE or GPAT, they will be exempted from writing BITS Pilani Entrance Exam. Students applying for MBA admission must appear for the BAAT, conducted by BITS.

BITS Pilani application form is released a month before the exams. The candidates should carefully take note of eligibility criteria, fees, important dates, mode of application, terms, and conditions, etc.

Moreover, the academic details furnished in the form should be authentic because if discovered false, the respective application will be canceled. It is important to adhere to the timeline, as late applications will not be accepted. Therefore, all the applicants should be aware of the BITS Pilani application form's last date.

BITS Pilani B.Tech /B Pharm Admission

Under UG level, BITS offers admission to the B Tech and B Pharm courses for four years. BITSAT scores determine admission to both courses. Applicants must register for the BITSAT Entrance Exam to take up the exam. The BITS Pilani entrance exam application form will be available on the official website.

BITS Pilani B Tech/B Pharm Eligibility Criteria

  • B.Tech - A minimum aggregate of 75% in PCM 10+2 exams (Physics, Chemistry, Math) and English, along with 60% marks in each subject.
  • B.Pharma - A minimum aggregate of 75% marks in PCB and English and a minimum of 60% individually in each subject.

BITS Pilani Direct admission

  • The board toppers from any recognized national/ state board will be given direct admission to their chosen programs. They should have the highest aggregate marks in PCM/PCB and English on their respective boards.
  • The BITS Pilani International Admissions are made based on SATs scores ( a minimum of 1160 out of 1600) and class 10+2 aggregate marks ( a minimum of 7.5 on the 10 GPA scale)

About BISTAT

BITSAT is a national-level entrance test held for admissions to B.Tech/B.Pharma/MSc courses. The exam is held online mode for the duration of 3hrs. It will be held in two phases. In BITSAT Question Paper, there will be four sections. It is one of the most competitive exams, where 3 Lakh students apply yearly. Every year, BITSAT Registration begins in March. By the end of June, registration will be closed. BITS Pilani Exam Date will be scheduled for July. After BITS Result's announcement, other admissions processes will be carried out. Students who clear the exams will be able to participate in the BITS Counselling process.

  1. Slot Booking- The applicants can book slots for BITSAT and exam centers.
  2. BITS Registration Fee- The fee for female candidates is Rs. 4400 and for male candidates is Rs. 5400.
  3. Marking Scheme for BITSAT- 3 marks for every correct question, -1 for every wrong answer, and 0 for unattempted questions.
  4. Freezing- A student can freeze a seat in the counseling round. It will debar them from receiving seats for higher preference in upcoming rounds.
  5. Sliding in the same institution- If a candidate chooses this option, they can only opt for branches on the same campus, and the higher preferences for the different campuses will be removed.

BITS Pilani M.Tech / M Pharm Admission Process

BITS Pilani offers admission to M Tech and M Pharm at the PG level. Students applying for these courses must sit for the BITS HD Admission Test. Valid scores are considered for offering admission. The merit list will be equipped based on the BITS HD Admission Test.

  • Suppose students with valid GATE scores are not required to appear for the BITS HD Test (BITS Pilani M Tech Entrance Exam). They can apply for BITS Pilani M.Tech Admission based on valid GATE scores. As minimum eligibility criteria, students must complete a B Tech degree with an average of 60% Marks.
  • Students who have passed the GPAT Entrance Test are also eligible to apply for BITS Pilani M Pharm admission. As eligibility, they must have completed a bachelor's degree B Pharm with a min of 55%.

It is important to note that all specializations are not offered on all campuses. Hence, candidates should be careful while selecting campuses in application forms. Moreover, financial assistance is provided through monthly stipends to the admitted students. A stipend of Rs. 13,400 is provided to all the M Tech students.

About BITS HD Entrance Exam

The BITS HD Examination is as online as the CBT ( Computer Based Test) exam. The exam is organized annually, and the merit list is prepared accordingly.

  • The mode of the BITS HD Exam is online, and the medium of the exam is English.
  • The time duration of the examination is 3 hours and 30 minutes.
  • The BITS HD exam will consist of 3 tests, including Test 1 ( 30 questions in 45 minutes), Test 2 (70 questions in 105 minutes), and a special test (50 questions in 60 minutes).
  • The marking scheme for the MCQ is +3 for every correct answer and -1 for every wrong one.
  • A score of 350+ is desirable out of 450 to get preferred branches.

BITS Pilani MBA Admission

Admission to the BITS Pilani MBA is based on the BAAT Scores. Thus, applicants who wish to apply for MBA must take up the BITS Pilani MBA Entrance Exam and are required to score well. Suppose students with valid CAT, XAT, or GMAT scores will be exempted from BAAT. But they are required to satisfy the BITS Pilani MBA Cut off: CAT is 75+ Percentile, XAT is 70+ Percentile, and GMAT Cut off scores are 620+.

BITS MBA eligibility is a minimum 60% aggregate or equivalent CGPA in any qualifying degree for seeking admission. The degrees accepted include B.Tech/B.E./B.Pharm/B.Arch/MCA/ Integrated BITS First Degree program. Moreover, the applicant shall have attained a min of 60% marks in either of the subjects.

The applicants, who are shortlisted based on BAAT scores, will be invited for a Personal Interview. A final merit list will be curated based on scores of BAAT, Personal Interviews, and weightage given to professional work experience and prior academic history.

About BITS Pilani MBA Entrance Exam ( BAAT)

The business Analytics Aptitude Test ( BAAT) is organized by BITS to shortlist students for further rounds. The exam is in online CBT mode; the usual medium will be English only.

The exam pattern for the BITS MBA Entrance Exam consists of Management Aptitude and Analytics Aptitude. The Management Aptitude Section is 2 hours, including multiple correct questions with sections like verbal ability, data interpretation, logical reasoning, and quantitative aptitude. The analytics aptitude section is 1 hour, which tests applicants' mathematical skills.

BITS Pilani Ph.D. Admission

BITS Pilani offers Ph.D. Programs in several modes like regular mode, Ph.D. Aspirant Scheme, part-time mode, and faculty development scheme. The duration of courses ranges from 2 to 5 years, depending on the type of specialization the candidate chooses.

A monthly stipend is provided to eligible candidates based on their past academic records and current financial situation. The stipend can range from Rs. 28,000 to Rs. 31,000. Moreover, the candidates can pick courses from engineering, sciences, and management domains.

BITS Pilani Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant should secure 60% marks in M.E/M.Tech/M.Pharm/MBA or any other equivalent degree.
  • The shortlisted candidate should work in an organization partnered with BITS Pilani for any of its Practice School activities.
  • The final admission will be based on entrance exam marks and personal interviews. The Institute to the candidates will provide a fellowship of Rs. 31,000 per month.

The different modes will work accordingly like:

Full-Time

Full-time academic involvement by Ph.D. scholars is demanded.

A higher degree with a 6 CGPA is required.

Answer. No, a candidate is not allowed to seek admission on 2 campuses.

Answer. If a candidate fills in the wrong information in the application form, they will be allowed to rectify their mistake in the correction window.

Question. Is there any management quota in BITS Pilani?

Answer. No, there is absolutely no quota for any management students. The admission is carried out solely based on merit. But direct admission is provided to the 12th board toppers.

Question. Is BITS Pilani Admission through 12th marks possible?

Answer. Class 12th marks are considered only for eligibility. The main admission is made through the BITSAT entrance exam.

Question. Are IIT JEE scores accepted in BITS Pilani?

Answer. Unfortunately, no other entrance exam scores are accepted for BITS Pilani B.E/B admissions. The students must take up BITSAT.

BITSAT is the entrance exam which I applied for taking admission in the B.Tech honors. Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani includes entering branch and preferences of the campus. BITS Pilani admission for B.E or any course will be through the BITSAT. This is the college entrance exam for courses like B.E and B.Pharma, like for the bachelor courses. Even I have cleared BITSAT and got admission for the B.E in this college. This is also the All India level entrance exam for BITS.

Yes, BITS Pilani conducts its own aptitude test/entrance test for offering MBA Admission. Applicants need to sit for BAAT. (Business Analytics Aptitude test) At first, applicants will be shortlisted based on their BAAT score. Later, they will be called for a personal interview. At last, the authority will prepare the final merit list by compiling BAAT score, previous work experience and interview performance. Applicants featured on the final merit list can secure MBA admission in BITS Pilani. Suppose students have valid scores in CAT, XAT or GMAT along with prior work experience will be excused from writing BAAT.

Hi, Raja Ram, The eligibility criteria for taking admission in the B.Tech course is:- Aspirant must have cleared 12th examination with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in PCM/PCB subjects taken together. The selection procedure is based on the valid score obtained in BITSAT. Admissions will be made based on merit.

Hi Shritha, The admission procedure in Birla Institute of Technology and Science is: For PG Courses: Those applying to PG program have to clear the 10th and 12th and graduation examinations. And the selection for the post-graduate courses will be based on a GMAT and CAT score followed written test conducted by the university. For B.TECH Courses: Here, the applicant must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board. And based on the score the candidates get in BITSAT, the admission has been carried.
