COVID-19 Pandemic: Odisha cancels pending UG/PG final semester exams

 

Keeping in the view of COVID-19 Epidemic, Odisha government has decided to cancel the Under Graduate and Post Graduate final semester examinations but there is an exception for medical courses. According to the source the decision was undertaken by Higher Education Minister A .K. Sahoo through Video conference in the presence of Vice chancellors, Senior officials of department, Principals of autonomous college on 11th June 2020. But All the examination for medical courses will be conducted as per the time schedule.

As per the decision of Higher Education Department of Odisha, Universities and Autonomous institutions across the Odisha state must follow the evaluation procedure which is recommended by the UGC (University Grant Commission) for final semester examination and the results are likely to be announced by last week of August month.

Higher education department has also directed colleges in order to follow the evaluation methodology which includes prescribed weightage of the internal assessment and remaining weightage of the average marks secured in previous semesters in respective subject.

Department also said that, students can also apply for the re-evaluation, in case if they feel that the marks provided are not as per their expectation, so they can apply for re-evaluation by the month of November 2020.In such cases revised result will be declared by the month of December 2020

However, this decision of the Odisha government will not be applicable for certain universities and institutions which have already conducted the examination. Apart from this, Higher Education Department cancelled the examination of the candidates who are having more than 2 back papers in final semester or final year exams and the valuation of back paper will be made as per the proportional quotient (P-Q) or it will be done through any other alternative method.

These guidelines are only applicable for the universities and the colleges which comes under the Odisha Higher Education department but excluding medical courses.
