Management education and its demand in the liberalized economy are undergoing a rapid transformation. With the liberalization of economy and new industry sectors especially in the service domain gaining prominence, newer specialization subjects like insurance, retail and BPO management have not only started becoming popular amongst students but also have greater acceptance by the industry. Traditionally management institutes all over India offer conventional specializations as in Finance, HR, Marketing and Production Management in the distance learning mode thereby limiting the options available to the students to super-specialize in the industry sector of their choice. Unfortunately though, the institutes fail to realize the two major constraints that working professionals have namely time and money. With rigidity in enrollment and examination procedures and exhaustive course curriculum, majority of students are unable to cope up with the studies and hence end up dropping out of the course.
